Nice! I’ve never ridden the 500 EXC, the 690 is a bit heavier but I’m sure you’ll like it! post some pics up when you get her offroad!

:jellydance: so much jealous. still having dips in the 30-40s here.

i want those mosko moto bags too. how do you like the flex bars? ive never used a set. i plan to swap to a more street friendly tire when mine are shot as well. i dont mind them in the dirt from riding supermoto

The mosko bags are awesome, the shipping (depending on where you live) is a bit ridiculous though. Check out dry spec bags, they seem pretty nice if you don’t have the cash for Mosko. The Flex bars are nice, I notice a bit less vibration but I really like the length, rise, and customizability of them. (Phone/Nav Mounts, different bushing densities, and what not) When I first bought the bike I was in the same boat about the tires, but after a year I love the stock tires. Only complaint I have is the longevity, but I guess you can expect too much from a DOT dirt tire on the road.

Here’s those Dry Spec bags. Seem to have some nice features and are pretty customizable

99% of my riding with this bike will be on the street unfortunately. i know its a shame. but i wanted one back before i originally bought my drz400sm. i do want to do big trips to utah/colorado and other states with the bike though.
those dont look bad, ill take a look at them

Sick setups! I was looking at the Husky 701, but after talking to my KTM dealer down the street, and the nearest husky dealer being 3-4 hours away, I'll probably be buying the 690. The dealer said if I got the Husky they could only do little maintenance, obviously no warranty stuff, and couldn't hook it up to the computer. I'm super pumped though! I'll pretty much be keeping the bike stock in the beginning. When you installed the Wings exhaust, did you have to re-map? I'm not 100% clear on the procedure. Do you recommend any must have mods/add on's? I won't be doing any major long trips yet, mainly just pavement pounding around the town and some occasional dirt roads/mild singletrack.

    Thanks for the build thread.

no you dont have to remap with the exhaust. my supermoto race director (also a master mechanic at a kawasaki/ktm/husky dealership) said the stock ecu can handle an intake too. he tunes the fs450 for a few racers though

Thanks man. No remap with the Wing exhaust, I’d do one if I got the Rottweiler intake though. I think my most used/favorite mods are the Mosko bags, the EZ clutch lever, and the Wings exhaust. The 690 is perfect for cruising around town or hitting single track trails. You could do long trips on the 690 but in all honesty if I was sticking to mainly pavement and wanting to take long trips with the occasional dirt road/fire break I’d go with some like the 1290.

Alright awesome, thanks! That sounds like some solid info.

For sure, thanks! That's pretty much what I'll be using it for.

Was the FCR39 and other engine mods worth it?
