2013 Taco with a P0412,P2433,P0420 help would be great :)

    Hi guys I'm David from Boston Ma and I have a 2013 Taco with 84k miles. She recently developed a CEL with out any limping or changes in driving and I pulled

    P0412
    P2433
    P0420

    Now I'm assuming the P0420 is not related to the air pump issue and I just need a cat so I ordered one....

    Now onto the other 2 codes, I removed the pump and tested it outside the vehicle (have a small 12 volt background) pump works fine outside the vehicle but does not turn on when installed. The wires going into the pump from the vehicle have a constant ground side and a positive side resting at 8.7 volts. I do understand how this pump works and why it is there and that it only activates on cold starts but hopefully this information will be useful to help diagnose the problem.

    Between the 2 codes I can only assume there is an issue with the actual valve body that the air pump blows into and or a sensor.... any help on where to start would be great!

    P0412 - Switching Valve A Circuit
    P2433 - Sensor Circuit High Bank 1

    I'm not sure if this would apply to a Tacoma, but I had an issue with a 93 Camaro Z28 years ago where the AIR check valve on the exhaust manifold went bad and let exhaust air back into the AIR pump. Condensation built up and in the middle of winter, it actually flooded the pump and froze solid overnight. It blew a fuse trying to run the pump. Anyway, if your pump has too much resistance from possible corrosion inside, it might lead to that P2433 code. Just a thought.

    You are just outside of the Federal 8yr/80k warranty on emissions components. You might want to try to see if the dealer can slide you in on that vs spending on a new cat.
    Can't offer much on the codes - my brain is fried from IRS jargon.

    Hey David,

    I Have to same code P2433 on my 2012 2.7 4x4 5sp. Truck is in limp mode. Took it to toyota and they told me they're position is that the code is caused by my LCE 2tr header..... BS!

    I'm about to take the pump apart but I think the problem is somewhere in the diverter to which the pump blows air.
    I'm wondering if you made any progress in clearing the code or finding the problem? -Sensor Circuit High Bank 1
