I just set up an appointment for Duratracs..I have a friend with a Jeep on 35’s with them and he likes them.
Haven’t researched but was interested in some Mickey’s and was told they have been having trouble balancing them lately. Said they started outsourcing about 4yrs ago.
Did NOT like my general grabbers at2. The BFG KM2 I had were a little hard but I didn’t have any issues with them..

I had duratracs on my 3/4 ton gmc. They were nice looking but got very loud and seemed to wear very fast.

Duratracs look awesome but way too heavy for my use. I am surrounded by asphalt unfortunately.

I am hearing (Duratracs) they may change as they wear, but hear much more positive than negative. I am getting the C load. The E’s I have ran on another Tacoma just seem too heavy and hard. That’s why I swayed from the BFG..after I add armor and maybe a suspension,I may want to go to E’s again? But that is still a little way in the future..

I think that’s what I’m going with next time. They fall into that hybrid category.

I should have gotten them this time. I got the terra grapplers and they have been fine, but I really want something more aggressive.

I’m digging the G2s. Lightweight and good warranty.

I always laugh at tire suggestions as most people including tire dealers do not listen to what the persons needs are and suggest and off road tire for highway use.

Anybody putting on a heavy aggressive tire and plans to run the highways and freeways 90% of the time at some point will come to the conclusion that is a bad idea. There is a large group of Taco owners that don't go off road but want the look of an aggressive tire and there is nothing wrong with that. The problem is there really aren't any good choices for that if thats who you are. The BFG KO is the standard look we are all after but they don't make a light tire for us, I don't know why and bet they would be on every Taco and similar sized trucks if they did. If you think your going to be happy running a big heavy tire on the freeway your MPG and butt dyno will tell you otherwise, that and you will probably never get the wheels to balance out.

I'm buying tires right now and am going with the dyna pros for the above reasons, their light, people say they run smooth, and they look somewhat aggressive. The Firestone Destinations AT is similar but a little more money. The Michelin AT looks good as well but is a more conservative looking tire in my opinion. Other than these 3 tires for an all terrain/aggressive tire you can run 80mph down the freeway and be happy with I don't see there is any other choice.

very true, putting BF Goodrich TKOs on a Daily Driver is a little over the top, those tires or Duratracs are designed for driving the Baja 500 not as a everyday commuter, grocery getter tire. but there are lighter weight AT tires that will perform better than most All Season tires that have a slightly appealing aggressive tread, the MICHELIN AT2 tire is the at the top of the list for this kinda of AT/All Season tire and will still retain the MPGs and drivability under any conditions.

Here's a curve ball..........my buddy did a lot of research on AT tires here lately and he went with Sumitomo Encounter AT. 660 treadwear A/B

I'm also at end of life on my NTGs and kinda wanted to try something else but still not sure whether AT3s, more NTGs or maybe giving the Sumitomos a try.

I'm going to just change my mind about 200 times before I pick something. That's how this is going. LOL.

    Top three list currently:

    1. Michelin Defender LTX M/S. 39.1lbs. 70k warranty. Awesome reviews. Booring looking...high priced
    2. Nitto Terra Grappler G2. 40lbs. 65K warranty. Mostly good reviews. Fun looking. Most likely nowhere as nice on road as the Michelins, but better off-road capabilities.
    3. Toyo Open Country AT2. 41lbs. 65K warranty. Mostly good reviews. Fun looking. My buddy swears by them on his Tundra. Probably nowhere as smooth on-road as Michelins. More adapt to off-roading when the need arises.

I'm still researching, but this is where I'm at currently.
