I use good ammonia based cleaner then come in behind with a micro-fiber polishing cloth... Very important to polish after cleaning windows. Also vinegar and water works well to remove the water spots on the windshield.

Don't use multi-ply bounty. The glue holding the sheets together makes smearing much more common. Stick to single ply, aka Bounty Basic. Stoner Invisible Glass works great.

    .

That has been my exact problem ... that glue on those 2 ply towels (SAM's and COSTO's Bounty paper towels are very different at the 2 stores here) ....

Thanks for all the replies and keep them coming.

FWIW ... I am going to try ALL of the suggestions and see which one works best for me.

Try using newspaper and regular rubbing (isopropyl) alcohol. Prob not a good idea for aftermarket tint, but works stellar on regular windows. Oh yeah, and ventilate well. Lol.

I've been looking at glass polishing products that haze when you apply them. Then you can buff them off like a wax. I'm not talking about rain-x... but a polish: http://www.amazon.com/8oz-Griots-Garage-Glass-Polish/dp/B002L29FEM

You can also use a glass cleaning clay, much like a clay bar for your paint, to remove the waterspots and other impurities...

you guys might laugh at me but on the outside i have used a magic eraser to clean the windows, it works wonders and for the inside i use a soapy water solution and newspaper followed by a microfiber cloth. And back to the outside, i then wax the windows and polish with a damp microfiber cloth. It comes out so clear its a mirror finish. Just my 2 cents....

Vinager and Water works great, and its the safest thing to use on tint.

As far as clay barring, I clay bar the outside of the windows when I clay the car---and wax them too. Oh yeah and Stoner Invisible Glass (it's good stuff)

For really hard water spots. I would recomend this stuff.
    http://www.google.com/imgres?imgurl=http://www.warehouseautoparts.com/Product_Line/Watkins_of_Sacramento/images/nothins_better-08-640xsdw.jpg&imgrefurl=http://www.warehouseautoparts.com/Product_Line/Watkins_of_Sacramento/Nothins_better.htm&usg=__lUJ9TDjwV8m6Wv37umM-Gcn2lUs=&h=632&w=480&sz=59&hl=en&start=2&um=1&itbs=1&tbnid=mQqSbLaWI0OfsM:&tbnh=137&tbnw=104&prev=/images%3Fq%3Dnothin%2527s%2Bbetter%2Bwater%2Bstain%2Bremover%26um%3D1%26hl%3Den%26sa%3DN%26tbs%3Disch:1

It works like Freakin Majic! Just get a damp cloth and then put a little bit of this stuf on it. Then just rub it on the windows. The water spots get buffed off. Its a powder type solution, that acts like a buff. And its tint safe.
But I just use Invisible Glass after every wash. It works pretty well.

I'll either use Meguiars Glass Cleaner, or a Vinegar based cleaner. Typically just use a microfiber cloth, or 1 ply paper towels folded up.
