I don’t know what the vent looks like on these transmissions but it is not uncommon for damage in shipping and then that could go unnoticed and installed on new equipment. Toyota’s are great but nobody’s perfect all the time

Great! Buy some stainless zip ties to install it- they make good hose mounting ties when you route it. I didnt drill through the filler, instead I tied the breather tip to the side of the cubby in the fender well.

When someone says they drove through water and now have issues add 8-10 inches to how high they claimed the water was.

I thought you earlier said disconnecting the battery cured the issue for a short period of time, that sounds more like an electrical issue than dirt in the diff.

I knew it wasn’t gonna be an electrical issue. Usually you’ll get a code if somethings electrical is causeing the truck to go in limo mode or hesitate. All the exterior connectors are sealed and even if some dirt got in them it won’t hurt if they were all plugged in before hand. Corrosion wouldn’t happen that fast. It wasn’t sea water he was in. My guess was more along the lines of the rear drums being gunked up though

I did the rear diff mod using a kit from Yota Shop cost about $23 shipped and I installed with zip ties in the taillight area.

Replace your plastic zip ties with stainless zip ties and forget about them- I had to do it on my 1st Gen after I saw drooping hoses and wires after the plastic zip ties got old and brittle and started breaking.
