Your renters most definitely pay property taxes, even if their name isn’t on the bill. What landlord do you know would rent a house for less than their expenses (mortgage, taxes, insurance)? Parking on the street when you have a driveway is, quite frankly, weird. Why expose your vehicle to excess risk from bad/drunk drivers and the like when you don’t have to?

My neighbors were doing parking on our the side I reside on..they are across from me they had plenty of room on their side. Being respectful the days I went to mow the yard an saw it parked out front I wouldn’t mow didn’t want to get grass clippings on it. If it was mine I’d be upset somewhat. So after the 4th time this happened I saw the husband out front polightly asked him to move it so I could mow. He basically said “it’s a public street I’ll park where I dang well please”

Upon hearing that I got triggered didn’t say anything bad just ok an walked away. Got my mower out an watered for about 5 min to make it nice an sticky then proceeded to mow making damn well the clippings were pointed towards the street. It was liberating well afterwards I’m out tinkering in the garage bout an hour later he storms over all pissy an talking loud at me from my drive way about how his truck is dirty now an I’m inconsiderate etc. I just smiled an said I asked you nicely to move it you refused I mowed that’s what happens I guess. Didn’t apologize but now he parks on his side finally..end of my rant

Will never understand the whole "parking in the street" thing. If you have a driveway, use it. If you have a garage, use it.

Finally had it in an older subdivision and moved to a nicer 'hood where folks actually park in their driveways. No more playing "car slalom" out in the street. ;)

My closest neighbor is about 1/4 if not more from my house. Only issue I have had with them is instead of using trash bins and taking it to the road (county tax covers trash service) they dump a lot of it on the property line. Makes a mess when a storm comes through and it blows in my crop field.

The other issue I had was folks that own a few acres think they can ride quads and dirt bikes everywhere. Took me a year, 25 "no trespassing" signs, purple paint and cussing out a bunch of folks before they stopped riding on the property (150 acres). Now they ride on adjacent property to get where they are going. Still a pain during hunting seasons but at least I don't have to deal with ruts.

Where I live it’s street parking only. I live in an older part of town with houses built between 1780 and 1900. Very few places here have off street parking.

I like where I live but street parking sucks

It is weird to see people viewing renters as a negative stigma... They pay their bills, go to work, maybe raise a family and are just trying to live, no different than you or I. I often envy them. Everyone says buy a house and now I did and hate it. Tied down to one spot, responsible for anything and everything if something breaks. Sick of where you live, want to move but now you are stuck with trying to sell your house and hope it was a smart investment.

I live in a neighborhood with an HOA and am on the board as the President because the prior boards kept stealing money and not doing anything to upkeep the place so I wanted to put a stop to that. We deal with homeowners AND renters not giving a shit and having their property look like hell.

Just yesterday I get a complaint:

    Good afternoon,

I am writing to once again voice my concerns with the actions of my neighbors which infringe upon my enjoyment of my property at "Address". I have raised this issue at least twice before, without satisfactory response.

My neighbor at "Address" has, by my estimation, 2-3 personal vehicles, at least 2 work trucks, and a work trailer. The trailer is rarely used and is "permanently" parked at my house - even when there is space in front of his property. This morning, not only is the trailer there, as usual, but there is a new large work truck - please see attached photo. As the neighbors seemed to be gone for the day, I left a note (copy attached) taped to the window of this truck.

Please consider this in the nature of a Formal Complaint, if one is necessary. I would like to hear how the HOA Board and "Property Management" plan to address this. While I understand that people park on the streets at times, my objection is to my street frontage, which impacts the view from my property, being used consistently by my neighbor (even before he uses his own street frontage) to park his work trucks and trailers. (Mine also seems to be the only street space he chooses to use.) If there is space available for parking or storing trailers, I would request that my neighbor be required to use it!

I know there are legal remedies for disputes of this nature, and while I do not think that is in the best interests of anyone, including the HOA, I am an attorney, and the prospect of legal action does not intimidate me. I look forward to your response."

    My Response:

The roadways are not property of the neighborhood therefore there is nothing we can do to enforce parking. Please contact the town and form a complaint.

    His Response:

Thank you for passing it along. I guess we will see what an HOA can and cannot (or won’t) do. An HOA does have a responsibility for the concerns of its members, from whom it draws its authority.

    My Response:

Your initial email and response is excessively entitled.

We contacted everyone that we could contact to ask what we as a board could legally do and the answer is nothing.

We as a board can’t legally touch the vehicles or force him to do something with them. All we can do is ask and at that point we have no more power than you. The owner is aware that the community has a parking lot for trailers/boats/campers, etc.

At this point you can voice your concerns with the town and ask them to change their rules or bylaws but the streets are town property so your fight is with them. If he had all these vehicles parked on his property then we could do something about it.

It seems like the owner knows the loopholes and is using them to his full extent.

It takes all kinds I guess.

Haha, no. I keep all my trailers at the shop as well as my extra 4Runner. The only vehicles I have home are the wife's car which is in the garage and my F150 and 4Runner which are in the driveway.

EDIT: I plan to start parking the 4Runner in the garage with the wife's car. Just need to clean up the garage first. Been working on the house all winter so it is currently a mess.

The 1 that owns the 2 properties past my house on a private road which they have right of way to use. Rents to people and has them pay with money order so they don't have to pay income tax. Renters have said that they told them so. And have to add money from the 2 rental properties to make the payment. Now with that said it is hear say. Did I mention that we have a bridge and road maintenance agreement which the other part does nothing.
The new renter paid a escavator to come in and fix the road.
In the past I have had to take the neighbors to court to recover monies for the maintenance work on the road.
    I could go on.

I think that counts as a bad neighbor.

This thread could be fun. I pretty much only have bad neighbors. My luck? :notsure:

So many stories to tell! My current neighbor leaves her trash in the breezeway for days at a time — baby diapers, feminine hygiene products, etc.

    2616B73A-8EA9-4C47-9174-F6FA8878B7F2.jpg

We have a dumpster 40 yards away in the parking lot that she uses...

Wrote a respectful note that she promptly tore up and threw all over my doorstep. Called the landlord and let him know, but he’s the nonconfrontational type.

It’s getting worse as she gets bolder and with it heating up, it starting to smell.
