They aiight. For my truck I had to hold their hand through the 2nd gen leaf spring recall to get me the right springs, but did ok on simple alignments, inspections, and battery replacements. As for my wife's Camry they got a wheel bearing replaced under warranty, battery and alignments done no problem.

Rockwall Toyota was charging me $160 to read why I had a check engine light on my truck. I thought that was crazy even though I bought my truck from y'all haha.

Were you still under warranty at the time?

Why are they charging $160 when AutoZone will do it for free?

No I wawasn anymore. I went and bought a thing that reads the computer ( DNT know the name of the device) and it read to my fuel cap.
I changed the original Toyota fuel cap to one that I can lock up and that was all it was that marked my check engine light. Saved me like $100+

Toyota of Plano service isn't great. I wouldn't say it's terrible, but I've had my issues. Waiting for a week now on an ac blower and rear diff gasket. When they will the truck through their car wash it almost ripped my license plate off. The black trim on the roof in driver's side is coming off to after the wash. They "fixed" this before and said they taped it down. No tape found when I tried to put it back in.

Did they scan for codes and then try to charge you? Or did they say they would have to charge you? I doubt they’d charge you that fee if it ended up being a gas cap issue. I’d also bet that would be waived if you had an actual repair.

    Truck stuff
I feel the same about plano. I had to wait around 4 weeks for an ac blower last year but that wasn't their fault. It was on nation wide back order, I called around hoping it wasnt true and got the same answer everywhere. I don't let any dealer wash my truck, not that it really matters, I've scratched the crap out of my truck on trails.

I just bought my SR5 there. Great sales experience and best dealership I've worked with.

Their service department is top notch too, literally usually in and out no more than 30-40 minutes for schedule appointment! Never had any issues with Rockwall, ever since we moved down here in Crandall 4 months ago been using them.

All I can give is the "They Suck" list, as I've yet to find a dealer that isn't completely inept.

    - Freeman Toyota. Can't do basic service properly or timely. Among many things, they would leave what seemed like the entire crank case of used oil sitting on top of the skid plate so I would leave an Exxon Valdez type oil spill everywhere I went. Even after pre-warning them and bringing it back to have them clean it. Service writer was so dumb I'm not sure how he gets himself out of bed and ties his shoes. Service Manager could care less, just lip service.
    - Grapevine Toyota. I stupidly purchased the Tacoma there even after catching them lying. The sales experience was such a bad experience that I can't consider ever going back, even for free service.
    - Family Toyota of Burleson. Attempted to purchase a Tundra there previous to the Tacoma. The delivery date came and went. Multiple times. No straight story to explain the situation, so I ended up at Freeman.
    - Family Toyota of Arlington (Formerly Don Davis). Haven't been there since the change in ownership or since I've owned Toyota trucks, but years ago quit dealing with them due to their shady business practices. A tire rotation would turn into an engine rebuild if you let them.

I'm ready for a complete change in the car sales/service business model. It seems to be an industry stuck in 1982. Most of the buzzards working at a dealership could be replaced by an Ipad kiosk. They are their own worst enemy.

I think we'd be better off if the went back to the 1982 business model. :anonymous:

I've had pretty good luck with Freeman. The service department has always been courteous and for the most part taken care of everything I asked for. Of course they are a volume dealership and personal, especially in the service department, change over often so you could very well get stuck with some A-hole who doesn't give a crap. It does go both ways though. I've witnessed a few really dillies of customers who come in with attitude ready for a fight because something has failed on their new vehicle. That always seems to work out poorly for them.

Took mine in for the 5k service Friday before last. Was given an estimate of about an hour turnaround. Handed over the truck, went inside and started to set up my remote work stuff. Barely got started and responded to a few emails when they came back in and said I was done. Probably about 30 minutes at the most.
