We move in the next month. The wife got a job and so did I. We are making the same, if not more after taxes moving from the north east down to sc. Hardest part is making the move honestly. Would prolly be slightly better weather in Cali, but it’s Cali....no offense. I’m not a fan of the Cali life style or politics in that state. I love my guns too much! Worst case you can always move back. You only live once dude!

 

Many people in my area moved from CA, NY, NJ, FL and paid cash for their homes...

When my in laws moved to myrtle last year I started talking with the neighbors. No one is from myrtle, all transplants from out of state haha

 

No offense taken lol. I love the beach and lifestyle aspect but hate the amount of people and bullshit politics and the cost of living. It’s just tough for me to move out of somewhere that’s got everything I love and enjoy doing.

I definitely couldn’t pay cash for one of those homes but I sure as shit could afford the down payment and mortgage.

 

Well stated! This is why I moved here to SC 12 years ago!

(Just remember there are more "red" people in CA than many states combined.) That being said, I do miss the geography, and food in CA.

That's why I love this area.. I've got Lake Hartwell just a short drive away. The mountains are 45 minutes away, the beach is 4 hours away. I can get to Atlanta in 2 hours if I want to subject myself to that.. I know its not Cali.. but everything is within reach.

 

4 hours from the beach is what would kill me haha. I’m 35 minutes away and that’s already too far haha. I want to move out of California so bad yet there’s just these damn lingering roots that keep holding on and not wanting to let go

 

I'm about 25-30 min from 4 beaches lol

 

And we are in the cheaper area too! LOLOL

 

I’ve never been to an east coast beach. I need to come out in the summer this year and check them out

 

What area? Just so I can look at the housing cost lol. Cuz 1000 sqft townhouse here goes for 450k at the minimum

 

Summerville and the surrounding areas (Ridgeville, Holly Hill, Moncks Corner, there are lots!)

I moved here from indiana.....twice. It's very enjoyable.
Also they have all these cool "Tax Free" times of the year. Tax free guns, tax free school stuff, tax free musical eqpt stuff. There is also a cap on taxes if you buy stuff from out of state. I think its like $500 or something.

So if you bought a boat, car motorcycle, whatever out of state....it doesn't matter what that states tax is...you pay the SC out of state tax cap.

Edit: And that tax goes to SC not the state you bought it from.
