Would someone please give me the details of TSB T-SB-0237-17 (TSB-0237-17)? I'm unable to find them online.

I left for lunch this afternoon and heard an atrocious sound as I opened the door, only to find the following in the doorjamb. Hope the ice didn't damage the 4 month old paint.

    Thanks very much!

Tell me about it! Madison Wi has gotten snow almost every day for the past week and it’s too cold to get her washed… sucks!

Yeah, that's what I don't get. Everything I've found doesn't tell me (or a dealership?) how to fix it. I suppose I could call the dealership, but based on how mediocre their response is to everything, I was hoping to see what the fix was myself.

I've owned 7 vehicles in my young 37 year old life, and I've never had "drainage issues" like this, to the point where it could potentially compromise the paint job on the door.

ESPECIALLY on a brand new vehicle with 4,500 miles.

The pics you posted sure look bad . It may have nothing to do with that TSB. Maybe they forgot to install a part of the truck during assembly that diverts or block the hole you seem to have . I would park my truck next to one at the dealer with the service rep and see if all compare the same . Show them the pics . Something is really wrong there .

All of my Tacoma's have done that, if you have snow on the windshield and the sun comes out it melts and runs in the door jamb and freezes. The past couple ice storms I have put blue painters tape covering the door gaps then I have no build up and can open the door.

shakerhood, thanks. And that's acceptable? Putting painter's tape on your vehicle?

I totally respect doing something to fix the problem.... But I bought a new truck, why should I have to do all of this $hit to compensate for poor engineering? You know? The dealership told me to "sport shift" my automatic to compensate for the poor shifting of the automatic, and I replied with, "if I wanted to do that, I would have bought a manual transmission". No response from the tech.

I had an '03 4Runner before this truck, for 11 years parked in the same spot, and NEVER had this issue.

Just super, super disappointing for my first brand new vehicle. Seems like every few weeks is another thing that I've never experienced in a vehicle driven during the winter.

I was not putting you down at all or saying it was an acceptable issue, I was only saying how I have dealt with it on my trucks. It happens on my 3rd Gen, also happened on both of my past 2nd Gens, and even a little on my old 1st Gen but not as bad. I believe the cause is snow and ice on the windshield getting some sunshine and then the water runs into the door gaps and refreezes, maybe you could try parking at a different angle if you possibly to see if that would help minimize it.

But we still don't know what the TSB is? Maybe I'm confused about what a 'TSB' is...?

I thought it was, "We've identified a recurring issue, we've acknowledged it, designed a fix, and THIS is the TSB # to address moving forward."

With this, it seems like, "There's a cowl ice issue, we've acknowledged it, and.........". That's it.

Can't find directions on a fix, anywhere.

    Am I understanding that correctly?

Go to the dealership with the TSB number and have them look it up and print it out. Not many detailed TSBs online as it's kind of an internal Toyota information thing.

Also that TSB reads as if the wipers are the affected parts not what you are experiencing.

Did that block of ice fall there or did it form there?

My 2017 TRD Sport did the exact same thing this past week (I am just outside Chicago) after we had some heavy snow and the truck was parked outside in the sun with the temps dropping throughout the day. Happened on both the drivers and passenger side (drivers side was worse). Taking it to the dealer Saturday. I'll post what, if anything, they have to say about it.

What's the cowl look like after the TSB has been performed? I noticed when washing my truck yesterday, the water pooled in the cowl and took a long time to drain (300 miles on truck and no blockage). I'm in an area where we can go a couple years without bad winter's, then get 100 inches of snow, so I want to make sure I won't have ice build up, but may not be able to replicate it under the mileage a TSB would apply...
