Anybody willing to help out with a shackle hangar install / leaf swap in exchange for free beer and/or pizza or whatever sort of food floats your boat? I’m putting out some feelers, looks like getting it done at a shop is gonna be a decent chunk of labor, and I simply don’t have the space and tools/ help to do it all myself. I’ve yet to ask Sierra Expeditions or SDHQ but I’m thinking that they are all gonna want something like 350+ for the install.

I can offer to help at my place as well, but I doubt you'll like my workmanship. I'm more of the GetErDone, if it works it works type of guy. I know that's like the complete opposite of you.

I've got all the tools needed.
May need a specific size drill bit if the kit calls for one.
Will also need some smaller quality bits to use before using the bigger ones. Also need a coulpe cut off wheels.

I should have the rest covered, even an air hammer.

I suspect your assumption was influenced greatly by the "@Nitori Switchpro Wiring and Alternate Routing Methods and it's Effects on the Modern Society Dissertation"

This is just a feeler right now because I'm trying to decide if I actually want to do Icon Six Speed wheels for my runner. But is anyone interested in 4 Stealth Custom Series F5s matte dark bronze 17x8.5 4.30 backspacing wheels? Two are perfect, one has a minor scuff near the lugs from discounts idiots and one has some rock rash. I'm thinking $780 for all 4 obo. These are hard to get ahold of recently. Pictured is the one with the slight rock rash.IMG_20170321_154938.jpg

You're funny. Lugs can go with them, I'll get more from SDHQ if need be.

I would simply pose the question: can you drill a round hole, or am I going to have to hide the drill from you? :D:rofl:

In this case it's mostly a question of if the holes are clean and the bolts are torqued.

Yes, my near-autistic tendencies with electrics is something I grapple with a lot. No one talks shit on the outcome though, just the process.

Don't get the wrong idea of me though. I've done my fair share of bush-mechanic shit- I've made makeshift gravity feed fuel systems out of Tropicana OJ jugs, foil-taped and zip-tied my way out of binds, and I have gotten vehicles home firing on "maybe just enough" cylinders. I'm not going to balk at a field expedient repair to get home, but when I am in a driveway I hold up a (mostly) higher standard.

And yes, I have taken air chisels, blowtorches, and drills to my vehicles before, it wouldn't be a new experience. To replace the diff bushings in my Miata I basically had to grenade the fuckers out of there with an air chisel and then blowtorch off the bonded rubber part...

When it comes to installing hangars on a frame there's not much extra to worry about other than cleaning up the frame a bit- and that's flapwheel and rattle can territory (and a break to let the paint cure a bit) because it doesn't have to be pretty, it just has to stop corrosion from happening in a spot you can't reach.

So anyways, it sounds like @Mike330R , @SamGoingHam , and I texted with @Man of Steel TRD who is also down to help and/or provide garage space , and I reckon the four of us could probably knock this job out in a weekend. So, I'll have to figure out a care package for my helpers... I'm thinking some homemade beef jerky, some beer, and maybe a gift card to someplace?

This weekend is too short notice but we could shoot for next weekend?
