I have two issues that I’m hoping I can get some answers/suggestions for. I have a 2017 TRD off road 4X4 (less than 5000 miles) with a K&N cold air intake but these problems were both happening before the intake was installed.
First issue: when going over approximately 50 mph I start having a whistle/humming noise that almost sounds like running your finger around the top of a wine glass. It only is there when I am lightly resting my foot on the pedal (to maintain speed) or using cruise control. When I take my foot off the pedal to coast the noise stops, when I accelerate hard the noise also stops.
The second and more concerning issue: a huge clunk noise/feeling from the front of the truck during heavy acceleration. Happened only a handful of times, but the clunk happens followed by a complete loss of power and RPM fall. Then the power comes back after a few seconds followed by very slow acceleration.
Took it in to the dealership and they weren’t able to solve or suggest anything with these issues. Any thoughts would be appreciated!

Sadly sounds like the common issues of the Gen 3. The noise you describe sounds like the howling noise that comes from the rear, which has been reported a lot. The clunking sound has also been documented a lot. I don’t recall if there has been any ways to solve said issues yet. I am assuming your vehicle does not have any recalls since you’ve taken it in before. But there has been a large potion of Tacoma’s which shipped from the plant without a lot of transmission fluid. Hopefully another member who’s suffering from a those issues will have more insight.
