Wow, at least they purchased it back from you. Seems like other people have to lawyer up when it gets to that point.

idk its about to get this badass bumper and 34" tires.... but really hopefully Toyota gets their shit figured out and puts out a TSB for those ECUs because you're not the only one that this has happened to.

Sounds like you had to lawyer up then. How long did that process take? I doubt mine would get bought back from them considering the amount of mods done. I honestly would love to keep my truck and have the issue found and fixed. It's frustrating because it seems they will only take a serious look at it if it does it in front of their faces!

Since the truck seems a bit unreliable at this point in time I came up with the idea to buy myself a Honda Grom. My idea was to drive my truck around with it in the bed and wait for the truck to die then ride the GROM around so i'm not stranded. With the support of my husband I headed to the Honda motorsports dealer in town and picked one up!
    20180409_093726.jpg
I realized my idea of having it in the bed was totally unrealistic given the height of my truck, there is no way being my size I can get the GROM in and out by myself. However, it is sooooooo much fun the purchase was still well justified after the first ride. It was so fun in fact that my husband picked one up for himself the very next day. :bikewheelie:

..the bikes aren't much bigger than my dogs. ha!

Very very high quality build. I believe it might be the nicest one I’ve seen here.

    Sucks about the issues.

I noticed you stated “I wanted to love my 4runner, but just didn’t click” and was windering why you feel this way.

I’d also suggest that you try an actual performance shop, as opposed to a dealer, to help you get to the root cause if the issue.

    None as of yet.
So I gotta ask you a question about when you had your runner. A friend and I went out this weekend to get our trucks dirty, i have a taco, she a runner. It wasnt anything to challenging but about half way through it she was noticing a burning smell coming from her wheel well. Checked her breaks and they were hot as hell. Did you ever have any sort of issue like that? She was in 4 high like I was and breaking when she needed to. Checked mine and I was good to go.

Was she using crawl control? That system still uses your brakes. I never experienced anything like that with my 4Runner.

@Project Recon Been following your build on IG for a while! Such a cool truck!!! Any huge issues with the 35’s rubbing at all? Looks like you have 2.5 inches of lift to fit them?

Thank you! I think we all have different definitions of HUGE when it comes to rubbing haha. I only really started to notice rubbing when I switched to my Yokohamas. They are a significantly larger "35" than what I have ran in the past. So yes, it does rub in extreme off road scenarios. Not with average wheeling or any daily driving. My driver front fender is starting to come off so that will have to be addressed when it starts to bother me.

Did they fine the problem with your truck? Hopefully at least if they didn't, they took care of you. I've loved the support I get from their customer service so far but if people have been having problems like this and nothing has been getting done, that definitely puts a bad taste in my mouth. Anyways, good luck with everything.

Awesome build, mods are tastefully done. Quick question on your previous 4Runner. What brand of front bumper is it? I hope you get issue on the truck figured out.
