    How do you recalibrate the VSC?
    Back story... needed alignment on stock 2017 Tacoma pro auto. Went to pep boys and got it aligned, because they offer lifetime alignment services. They did the alignment and the light came on. They don’t know how to turn it off and neither do I. I searched the forums for turd gens and I didn’t find the info. Any help is much appreciated.A0537650-1F9A-4D74-B358-0122CD0E0E04.jpg

    Let me know what they did if they let you know. I’d rather not go to the stealer.

    I think this is what you are looking for. This is copy/pasted from another thread about resetting the VSC after an alignment (this is not mine BTW)...

    Zero Point Calibration

    Here's decent instructions on how to reset the VSC system and perform a Zero Point Calibration using the paper clip method;

    1) Park your truck on a level surface. Make sure the steering wheel is completely straight.
    2) With the key off, disconnect the battery for a few minutes, then reconnect it.
    3) Turn the key on, without starting the engine.
    4) Grab your paper clip, and using the picture below, connect and disconnect the two terminals shown (CG and TS) four times within 8 seconds.
    asdasd.jpg
    5) You should see the VSC light turn on. This means that all the calibration data has been cleared.
    6) Turn the ignition switch off.
    7) Now take your paper clip, and connect the two terminals shown (CG and TS) in the picture.
    8) Turn the key back on, without starting the engine.
    9) After a few seconds, you should hear a buzzer sound for 3 seconds. After that buzzer stops sounding, Turn the key back off, and remove the paper clip.
    10) Because you disconnected the battery, your radio presets will be lost, as well as the calibration for the Auto-Down function on the driver's window. To re-calibrate the window; simply hold the switch down until the window opens all the way, then keep holding the switch for a few seconds. Then hold the switch up until the window fully closes, and a few seconds afterwards. The same holds true for Tundras equipped with an Auto-Down back window, and Moonroof. Use the same process described in this step, until all items are re-calibrated.

    That's it. The whole process should take about 10 minutes or less.

    Document this. Go to the dealer. Get a quote to fix (unless covered by warranty). Bring quote to pep boys, make them pay the bill.

    EDIT: Or try the above ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

    Thank for the instructions. Saw the same ones on a second gen thread. Can you double check if the same applies for the third?

    I am curious to why it happened.
    Strangely enough happened to me once when battery cell went out.
    Did they break a speed sensor on one of the wheels ?

    thanks a lot guys, this helped a lot, I hit the mother of all pot holes and screwed up my alignment and steering wheel, and of course the stability control light came on instantly and never turned off, after I got it realigned I did this reset and it worked like a charm. I will say it was a little tricky without having a key to turn being a push button start but got it down on my second try.

    I've aligned my own truck two times and have not needed to re-set the zero point calibration . I've have aligned 100's of other Toyota's and can't remember ever needing to re-set them , unless the battery died while doing the alignment . Any shop that has a snap-on scan tool can reset it . I can't say what they would charge you but its not that hard . Good luck .

    This worked... the alignment place couldn’t figure it out. Thank you for helping me avoid a trip to the dealer!

    Looking for some input here on a similar issue. I was on a trail yesterday, one I have ever done before. Long story short, the bottom half was extremely rocky and steep and somewhere along the way (I’m pretty sure I know where) I really took a hit on my front passenger side tire. I didn’t notice until I got back on the road and took it out of 4Lo, but my wheel is pretty crooked and I am getting two warnings;

    - check vehicle stability control system
    - pre collision system malfunction : please see dealer

    From what I have read, the VSC warning is just from my alignment being so off. Can I anyone clarify or provide any info on how screwed I am? :annoyed:

    I just went through this on my 2017. I hit some rocks in DVNP that bent the driver-side lower control arm/spindle, and I had to cock the steering wheel to the right to drive straight. After fixing the bent parts the VSC light was still on, and the alignment shop didn't have the electronics to reset. Between the instructions posted in this thread (post 4), the YouTube video (post 15), and posted section of the Toyota manual (post 17) I was able to perform this operation. IMHO the manual section in post 17 is the most accurate and helpful single document posted here.

    My observations/tips:
    1. Disconnecting the battery is NOT necessary. The factory manual section (post 17) describes it as clearing the VSC zero point data, so it didn't make sense to disconnect the battery and clear EVERYTHING. I successfully performed the operation without disconnecting the battery.
    2. In most of the drawings of the OBDII (or DLC3) connector the connector is shown inverted from its mounted orientation in the truck. Refer to the Youtube video screenshot in post 15 for actual orientation. CG (chassis ground) is pin 4 (per OBD specification), and TS is pin 12 (Toyota definition, pin is not used for OBD). Pins 4 & 12 are directly opposing each other.
    3. With keyless starting remember that it takes two start button pushes without depressing the brake pedal to get into the ignition-on mode.
    4. When clearing the VSC memory the lights go through a blinking sequence and ultimately the VSC and ABS lights starting blinking unsimultaneously (is that a word?). The warnings in the video regarding truck movement while clearing seem to be bunk, the computer is clearing data not calibrating.
    5. When performing the VSC zero point calibration, the VSC and ABS lights start blinking simultaneously when the procedure is complete.
