Hey folks. I am going to apply a rubber runner mat on the inside of the tailgate for a little added protection to prevent the plastic tailgate from getting scratched. What would be the best way to stick/glue/attach the runner pad to the tailgate?

If I ever take it off, I don't want to have a bunch of residue and crap left on the inside of the tailgate. I know it's a truck and it'll get scratched, I just want to keep it as fresh as long as possible :)

I tucked it under the lip and then used outdoor double sided mounting tape on the other edges.

Oh that is slick. Did you just jam it under or did you have to undo part of the top of the tailgate and then screw it back down?

The material extends an inch or two under the plastic cap and the screws go through the material.

Did you put the screws through the mat or does it just stay underneath the lip?

Through the mat. Just poke them through by hand.

Here's a couple more showing how it is installed. Makes it less slippery too and holds the beer in place. I've had this on for two years now.

That's awesome dude. I'm just touching up some paint on the tailgate and then I'm going to put my mat on. That looks awesome, I'll show you a picture when it's done!! Thanks for the help!!

Did you cut a piece out where the latches are for the tailgate or was it able to go all the way to the end of the tailgate and still latch?
