I haven't found a thread dedicated to this specifically so I thought I would throw it up for discussion. There appear to be a few people running these but not a lot of discussion or detailed reviews. So anyone with personal experience or constructive opinions please chime in.

They are a 0-3.5" lift coilover for 2005+ Tacomas for $499 assembled. I emailed FBG for info and this is what I found out. 600lb coils with a free length of 16.25" (413mm). Shocks are designed after a Bilstein 5100 in both valving and finish. For an additional $100 they can actually be ordered with 5100s. As per their web site they carry an 18 month warranty.

Coil seems long, as a OME 2888 is 405mm(15.945") but it all really depends on where the spring perch is on the shock body. I'm thinking longer coil means less pre-load needed for lift. Suspension gurus correct me if I'm wrong.

The way I see it the closest competitor is the "Toytec Adjustable Coilover Kit" that comes unassembled for $619. Not much more if you plan to go with 5100s on the FBG coilovers, unless you consider the cost of assembly would be anywhere from $0 DIY reuse stock tophats or $100+ if you want someone else to assemble them with new top hats. Maybe a little less reusing the factory gear.

These are what I'm talking about.

I have heard of Fat Bob's Garage, but not for the Tacoma. I have seen them used on Chevy, Ford, and Ram. From what I remember they do have a decent track record. I can't recall of anyone in other forums that I was a part of before owning the Tacoma having any issues with any of their products/service.

IMO, if you are going to go with the adjustable shock, and either the OME coil or the FBG coil; you would want to have the shock set at the 0 setting. That way you would not be pre-loading the coil, and would be letting the spring give you the lift. Much like the OME 888 coils and the Bilstein 5100 adjustable shocks. Set to 0 and let the coils do the lifting.

Looks like you have picked out a good product, but like I said I do not know that much about them. Hopefully others that have some more knowledge/experience with FBG will chime in and can help you out more.

Not personal experience, but I know a good number of people from the local toyota groups in the SLC area have used FBG. I haven't heard anything negative about them.

Curious what you’ve heard. I live in SLC and work near their shop in Clearfield. I have the blowout 2015 TRD Pro suspension and am still deciding between installing myself or having a shop do it. If Fat Bob’s is good and has reasonable pricing I could drop off my truck on my way to work and pick it up on my way home. Curious if they could do an ECGS bushing install as well? If you have more specific feedback I may be more compelled to call them. Shop looks good but it’s so hard to tell with all the shitty shops around. Their online catalog shows a lot of spacer lifts and blocks. No higher end coil overs and leaf packs/3-leaf AAL listed.

This is what I’m thinking. That’s why the coil length has me confused. With a 16.25” coil I don’t see how they would manage 0” of lift. On a regular 5100 at the lowest clip that should still get around 3” of lift.

Ok, not quite what I need to change my mind from self install. I’m capable and a bit OCD about working on my projects, I’m just struggling to find free time and was hoping to find a good shop that I could trust to do it right. FBG’s site and parking lot are a little too full of Rough Country lifts to earn my biz without solid recommendations.

Any other SLC shop recommendations? Was also thinking about having Low Range in Orem do it, but that’s less convenient.

I do not think that it is 0" of lift, I think that is referring to setting the spring seat at 0, or the lowest setting. Same as with the 5100's and the OME springs. Set the spring seat (clip at lowest setting and get the springs for the amount of lift that you are looking for.

Nope. They specifically told me it is adjustable from stock height to 3.5” of lift.

TNA Performance in Ogden. Heard LOTS of great things about Alex, he was going to do my wheel bearing and needle bearing before I forced the dealer to warranty it. Super easy to work with setting up a time and what needed done.

He quoted me a very fair price for a full lift install yesterday for what it is worth.

I have had FBG do some work on my vehicles in the past and they have been good. They helped me with a BDS warranty issue on my previous Tundra. I have talked to a few a Tacoma owners that have had work done there and they had nothing negative to say. A couple of the guys had 4.88 gears put in there so I am sure they could do the ECGS bushing install. They also will do the CMC.

eta. With that said I will be doing my lift myself including the bushing. I am also OCD and don't trust most shops. I have everything for my lift except the rear shocks.

Talk to the 5 lug Tacoma guys if you want to know about Fat Bob's lifts, they're one of the few companies that makes a lift kit for the 5 lug Tacomas and I've read about them several times in their threads. Not that it's the exact same kind of lift, but they know the brand.

Thanks for this info. I just reached out to TNA. Got a quick response and they seem reasonable and appear to know what they are doing. Thinking I’ll give them a shot.
