Planning on buying a new Tacoma tomorrow and of course I've already been looking at wheels tires lifts the lot. This is my first Tacoma but this has been my dream truck since i was a kid. Not sure I want to jump straight to lifting the truck but without the lift i'm unsure what will fit on the stock TRD offroad. I'm looking at Fuel Hostage 17x9 and cooper st max tires 285/70/17 just looking for feed back on what will fit. If this won't fit the stock truck what size lift should i look at? Also what size wheel/tire should I look at if i decide lifting the truck right away isn't the route i want to take knowing that i want something taller/wider than factory stock? Thanks for any feed back cant wait to put out some pictures once i get everything sorted out.

33 inch tires will not fit without CMC and a lift. You can only do 32 inch tires without rubbing. I end faith a 265/70/17 on Fuel Trophy wheels. That's at big as you can go.

Anything will fit with a big enough hammer. That said, you will need one with 285s and those wheels.
While lifting will help fit the tires while the truck is sitting still, it does nothing when you go off road and you compress your suspension. You gotta get them not to rub at stock height if you don't want them to rub ever.

I thought I read somewhere that you couldn't lift a new 2018 because of the safety features?

Find the thread the skinny on skinny or something like that.

You can run a 33" tire with no lift, no rub, no chop. 255x80x17

Key is a narrower tire and proper wheel fitment.

You did. But even in the digital age the old 'don't believe everything you read' is still valid.

    Maybe more so.

Man we live on the same coast and you're up early. Haha.

I've got 265/75/16 and fits the well nicely with no lift. Won't head to 285 territory until after cmc and the lift (today hopefully)
