That would be a challenge on a shell without windoors. But, then why have it? Because we want to have it. How about just letting people have stuff that suits their needs? That is the beauty of this truck, you can go any direction with it. Yours isn't necessarily the right way.

    Workin' on it....
That is actually a really well thought out feature - no moving parts, super simple, doesn't steal any ground clearance and isn't just another thing to get hung up on something. Not sure if its patented but its a nice design feature that Toyota should incorporate.

Ah, it’s good to see you’re happy. My wife has a 2008 Honda Element that is short of 100,000 miles and shows no sign of stopping soon.

I've had mine for a while now and I would pay for it again if I needed to. Super well made and very very practical. It's going to be one of those accessories that stays with a truck until it dies of old age.

I have one also bought from a member here on TW. It does come in handy but i wish they made one for the right side also. I reverse up to my garage door in my driveway and always open my bed from the right side. Would have made it even more convenient.

I just sit on the tailgate, swing my legs up and then stand up. Just as easy as the step imo.

I purchased the factory original from Toyota. It's helpful for me and especially necessary to help my (short) wife. IMG_0154.jpg

I have thought about getting one but my only concern is it would drop down when you hit a bump. Has anyone ever experienced this?

You have to put a bit of pressure on it with your foot, to make it lower. I doubt it would accidentally drop over a bump. Never experienced it.

A bedstep came with my Taco. Didn’t want it but couldn’t convince the dealer to take it off. Two 17mm bolts hold it on. Pretty easy to take off.
