Anyone have spindles for a 2014 Tacoma 4 cylinder 4x4? I’m taking out a 6” lift and need the old ones removed and need stock ones back in. Must be near Vancouver area.

@fatfurious2 has some he could sell in the next week or two. They’d be shipping from VA though so may be pricey.

I don’t see why they’d be any different, but I can verify part numbers later if you’re interested in selling yours.

Bent the passenger side spindle and cracked the gussets yesterday. Tagged
a large rock that couldn't be avoided.

Bent enough that the tire was rubbing when turning passenger side.

Had spares on hand and swapped it out while on the trail. Didn't take long.

What’s the takeaway from 14 pages so far?

Are TC with sway bar the best option?

I've had a set of TC (sway bar option) gussets for a few years now because I've been so back and forth deciding whether it's a good idea or not. That and the fact that I've been lucky enough not to bend one I guess. I HAVE taken some pretty damn hard hits too.

It's hard to tell without giving each failed spindle to a non-destructive testing outfit whether it was operator error during the welding process or not that actually lead to the cracking. But as others have mentioned earlier, perhaps it's best to keep the spindle as the weaker link in the suspension system in order to avoid a total catastrophic failure on the trail. That's kinda where I'm leaning towards now...

People love to trade in their bent spindles as cores for gusseted units. Then the bent ones go back out welded bent. Buy new or use your own straight spindles.

A broken spindle is pretty high on the list of catastrophic failures, I can't think of much worse

Of course. I mean to say that I think I'd rather bend one without a gusset and limp to the pavement then snap a spindle with gusset entirely.

Anyone with the swaybar version experience cracks yet? I can't remember after 14 pages. :anonymous:
