Yup! Wouldn’t be against it! Especially after this last winter. Most had worse than ours just long. Melted the last of our snow today. Almost 60F

havent looked and toyota has been changing it. no more freebies and now will do it myself. im not doing 10k on 20w oil!

 

Hey Greg, I just purchased this filter wrench from eBay.





I’ll only be using it once to remove the filter for the first oil change that’s coming up. I will be replacing the plastic filter housing with this one, and it comes with it’s dedicated socket.



As far as oil goes I’m sticking with the recommended 0w20 Full Synthetic from TOYOTA, with a TRD filter I wish we were a little closer I’d be glad to help you out.





You also might want to consider getting this OEM aluminum filter housing to replace the stock plastic one.

I was told by the TOYOTA parts guy last week that TOYOTA is going to a 0w16 synthetic in the new vehicles.

 

Been sittin in the ER with my FIL since 13:00, found an article about a dog that had to have surgery due to tumors that showed up on a scan, during surgery they found she had eaten stuffed animals that had become stuck in her digestive tract. I asked my FIL if he had been eating stuffed toys. He cracked a bit of a smile. As of right now they believe he may be having trouble with the gblatter.

That’s a good point, thanks. I’ll use caution when installing the housing. I’m going to check and make sure, but I think the torque setting for the 3.5 is 18ft lbs.

No I haven’t, I’ll check it out though. The aluminum housing was 12.00 and change. Shipped with free shipping from Cali in two days.

Looks like the same filter that goes in my wife’s iQ. Her filter housing is aluminum.
