Hi all this is my first question on this awesome website. I have a 2017 Tacoma with 5 ft bed. I am towing a 23 B Jayco travel trailer. My question is what gear is the best to tow in?

    2017 Tacoma OR 4x4 (formerly a 1998 SR5 PU, 2002 OR 4x4, 1995 4x4 4Runner, 1985 4x4 Toy PU) ... and RIP’s (rust in pieces) to a Bronco II 4x4 & S10 Blazer 4x4
I have the 20-ft 175RD Baja Edition, so its rather high profile. Broccoli is right, S-4 with ECT on is good.

    I towed my 2400lb A frame about 2300 miles in D.

But it was winter and it was cold AF outside.

Most concerning is not really what gear, but transmission temperature (as is my understanding). I'll be towing the camper up to Kansas at the end of May and it may not be as cool then. I remembered that I have an old BlueTooth OBDII scanner that I've moved from vehicle to vehicle, but I've never used it in the Taco. I just plugged it in and paired it up. I've opened Torque and it's reporting normally. I see there is a PID for transmission temperature. I'll be monitoring it on my next trip.

For towing you are supposed to keep it out of OD... both of them. So S-4 as mentioned above.
