Legit question svdude It’s the total performance in control and ride for me. This is one of those what you like may not be what others like decisions, but for me, taking any bump at any speed, while getting amazing cornering and braking control on street at the same time is worth it. The fact you also get adjustable front and back, large and reserve reservoirs and a badass look also helps me love them! Research carefully if you prefer digressive shocks, and of course Made in USA never hurts:mudding:

I just installed my Icon Stage 6 with OME Dakar leaf springs. I haven't dialed in the ride height or dampening yet but the suspension looks/rides good so far.

Any advice on settings for the CDCV?

1.) Before/After Pictures of Icon Kits installed

    Before:
    After:

    Kit (ICON 8)

I also added the ToyTec DiffDrop, Bump Stops and Rear Shims.

Overall Comments: My Taco truly drives much better after this lift, the handling and cornering on all surfaces from dry road to washer-board to large whoops and bumps is amazing. With the 285s the steering does not feel sluggish and while I have not [yet] done a regearing, it feels like it doesn't downshift so much. Minor, and I mean minor, road noise change in the 20 MPH range, smooth as silk up to 90. (haven't gone higher). Speedo is off by about 5 at 75, 4 at 55, 3 at 40 etc.

    2.) Installation Issues
Wheel Alignment was tricky...could not adjust to full camber settings per instructions due to rubbing on mud guards...eventually tweaked (cut) them some and will be replacing the Fender Flares with a one piece. I had installed the TRD Pro Skid Plate and decided to shim down its rear set of bolts 3/8" inch to give the drive train "Pumpkin" a little more clearance, since I did a 1" diff drop. I followed the directions very carefully, especially the slack in the rear reservoir lines around the (new) bump stops.

    3.) Installation Pictures
Not much to see as you can look at the whole setup.

    4.) Coilover Heights Questions
I tweaked this a lot to get the rake I like...very personal question of course...I used "option two" for the rear replacement leaf pack and then adjusted the fronts to fix for the Taco Lean. Driver Front is 2.125", Passenger is 1.825" (currently).

    5.) Icon Issues
Everything about product is fantastic...my set was backordered but I knew that going in...was missing one part they shipped out before the weather got nice enough to take the project on.

    6.) etc
I worked with Bij at ToyTecLifts.com this was a very smart thing for me to do as I have a few questions regarding the brake line extensions and shims, as well as decisions regarding the diff drop...Bij was extremely knowledgeable, confirmed with his team and very responsive...I really felt like I had a "team of experts" front to back on this.

Great write up and feedback for TW. Nice looking rig by the way.

I agree with you even though I did not go to the extent of buying the higher stage kits, but even with the stage 2 kit, I notice a difference with cornering / etc.

No sure it this has been answered already. Which icon stage is comparable to 16-18 pro suspension?

None of the stages match up exactly, but the closest would be the stage 1 IMO.

The icon coilovers will ride stiffer than your stock pro suspension. I like the ride, but just know that going in...

Love the way my pro suspension rides on the road but i do want a lift and it seems like icon is the most affordable d/t uca & aal included. Jst dont really know the benefit over the stock pro.

Hello all, I originally posted this in another spot, but I think it is better here. I am looking at getting a 2018 Tacoma Double Cab Long Bed Off Road soon and will be towing our camper trailer that weighs 4100 pounds dry. I will also be doing mild to moderate overlanding and off grid camping with the wife and dog. I have been looking at the various Icon stages and would appreciate some assistance and any information you can provide on which setup would be the best for what I described above. I have been thinking the stage 6 or above (for adjustability) and the hydraulic bump stops. I plan on either building or buying storage or drawers for the bed, so there will always be 250-300 pounds back there. I currently own a Jeep Wrangler Rubicon, so i am used to a "stiff" ride. Thank you in advance for your input.

3 inch lift, Falken Wildpeak tires,
I have Icon stage nine on my 2016 TRD off-road, short bed. No problems, and rides fine, even with no load. I decided on the stage nine because I will be adding CBI bumpers both front and rear, and towing a Forest River Rpod 179 camper trailer, along with assorted gear. A bit expensive, but I wanted to buy only one upgraded suspension system.

If you are going to run that much weight in the rear I’d suggest looking at stage 9 or 10. They come with the RXTs and CDCV in the rear. All that weight out back and you’ll probably need the extra leafs with the rxt and you can make the rear stiffer to support the weight with the cdcv. Not
To mention if you aren’t going to run as much weight you can also take leaves out of the rxt.

Thanks for the info. After doing much research (here and all over the interweb) I have decided to go with the Stage 9. I appreciate your input, it helps validate my thought process.

Tacamoworld has been very helpful with this new journey.
    Thanks again.

    Stock 4 now.

The fronts are cranked up almost all the way, after everything settled, the front sits slightly higher than the rear but I kinda like it now. No issues and I’m pleased with the ride quality. Yes, mpg’s have dropped off significantly but I knew that going in.

Do Icons work for long travel setups? Is anyone running Icons on any of the long travel setups?

Anyone using 1/2” or so top spacers instead of adjusting coil overs and adding so much preload?

I figured I'd try to post it in here since there is more traffic.. Driving a 2016 TRDOR 4x4. Currently up front I'm runningOME Nitro Chargers with 886 coils, SPC uppers, a CBI bumper and winch. I've got an opportunity to purchase, at a good price, some Icon 2.5 Extended Travel C/O's with 700lbs springs from a buddy with a 2nd Gen. They need some love and a rebuild. I guess I'm just seeing if it's worth making the switch and put a few hundred bucks into the Icons.. or just being content with my current set up.. I've read a lot about Iconsfor 2nd gens not being the best route.. some say different..
