Does anyone on this thread mount a kayak on their prinsu? Just strap/tie it to the rack or mount a kayak carrier on?

I use yakima cradles. I purchased an extra 1" crossbar (the prinsu comes with 1 already I believe... I wanted 2) to use with the cradles and their included brackets. Just a little easier in my opinion getting it all to work right.

Have any closer pictures of the brackets used?

Yeah, they are what come with the Yakima cradles. Nothing custom. Just squared off plastic pieces the mounting bolts go through under the cradles.

They fit 1 inch bars as that's what the usual thule and Yakima racks have (although the Yakima bars are round).

And from the link above, maybe they changed the way their cradles mount. Mine are pretty old (15+ years) .

Has anyone mounted their Satellite radio antenna onto their rack? I have a new head unit inbound and was looking for maximum reception. So, I was thinking about mounting it near the front (possibly on the side) of the rack. Any ideas or suggestions?

Has anyone found a shovel mount that connects directly to the rack other than quick fists? I would rather have something that secures the shovel a little better (and I don’t want to use zip ties).

You could try bomber products shovlocks, but they are meant for use with a hilt jack. Which unfortunately I am not able to use mine with as my hi lift is on an angle behind my tyre and to close to the 3rd gen tailgate. :( not wanting to drill a hole in my Prinsu just yet. It'll come though. Solid piece of kit the shovlocks are.

Love be your setup @OneFastGeek ! Can you share the details on that panel please? I’m looking to do exactly that with a panel.

It is a Renogy 100 Watts 12 Volts Monocrystalline Solar Starter Kit. I still haven't done the wiring yet, but I hope to knock it out in the next week or so. This post on IG is what I'm using as a template, but I'm not going to do such a shit job on the sealant part.

Here's the parts list I've compiled so far:
    Renogy Starter Kit
Renogy Solar Charge Controller Temperature Sensor (optional)
    10AWG in-line fuses (you need 2)
Cable pass-through (If you are going pass the wires through the roof)
3/8-Inch Hole Grommets (for roof holes)
Marine Adhesive/Sealant Fast Cure (for the pass-through)

I still need a good set of terminal crimpers and then I think I'm all set. Nervous about drilling the roof, but I think I've done my homework, so it will be fine. I'll try to do a full write-up with pictures when I do it.

Thanks so much! Yes drilling in the roof would be a no for me. Maybe run the cables down the side if he windshield? There is a bit of a grove.

Too poor to list anything interesting.
The 10AWG may be a bit too much to shove in the windshield groove.

This. 2 x 10AWG cable will not fit in the windshield channel. I already have wires in those channels for LED lights, GPS, and Sat Radio, so drilling is my only other option.

*note* The Renogy 10AWG wires have HD insulation, so they are larger than normal 10AWG wires.

Another forum member ran his cables down the back part of the cab, but I don't think the mounts would hold up to the Phoenix summer sun/heat and I'm worried they would get snagged or in the way. https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/solar-panel-install.472522/

Makes sense. I’m putting a 30” or 40” rigid and running them down the windshield. I think I will run the solar panel wires down the back or rethink my roof mounted solar panel altogether.

Unless you wanted to see about running positive on one side and negative on the other? That could possibly work. Would just have to get a length of it to test out and see how it works.

Could also use 12 or 14 gauge - one or two solar panels aren't going to provide that much amperage.

Can any of you guys help me out?

I installed my cabrac today and about half of the bolts securing the rack to the roof would not thread in all the way. I know I shouldn't force them in so I pulled them out and just as I suspected the bolts we're being stripped!

Anyone here experience factory holes not being threaded completely?

Any advice on what I can do to fix the holes?

Could I run a tap in each hole and get some new bolts to install?

Any idea size bolts come with the rack?

I'm pretty bummed out that this happened, any advice would be greatly appreciated.

For those of you who were interested in the solar panel that I mounted on the rack, I finally finished the install and I have an "outline" (as opposed to how-to) written up here.
