I want one of those small ones, I saw one that was rated to start a 6.0 diesel, but it was pricey

Mine is the fridge/freezer so you set the freezer temp and there is a divider that establishes the fridge/freezer divide. We set ours at 9* for frozen and that keeps the reefer side cold. We've learned where to stock the "needs colder" stuff closer to the divider and pack lower. It does work very well.

Need a fridge... 24 hours out in the AZ desert and even in covered shade my cooler lost 20 pounds of ice... Sucked.

The arb fridge/freezer changed my life .... Lol not really but it made a huge difference we pre prep all our meals, vac pack them and then freeze them. Just rotate that days meal to the fridge section made so much room for activities. I do still keep a beer cooler tho but all my food is in the fridge/freezer

Thanks for the other brand ideas. Everytime I searched it kept coming up with ARB... I'm not a brand junkie lol. I just need it to work and not cost 1k

Dometic makes ARB and WAECO. Pretty solid so far.

I am just worried about the plastic cause it will be on tray 24/7. Sno master is lockable, has threaded holes on bottom, and is stainless skinned.

You can remove the bolts holding the feet on the ARB fridge, the ARB slide has holes that line up to reinstall the bolts.. This will bolt it to the slide.

So I borrowed an ARB for my trip out west and I dealt with some issues since I did not know much about them before hand. First I had it set too high, had it set at like 32* and had some food go bad on me that was packed at the top. Then I dropped it down to 20* and had some beers freezing on me. Basically the fridge portion is more so on one side (the deeper side) and gets warmer as it goes towards the shallow side. It also gets warmer closer to the lid vs towards the bottom. So if you want frozen stuff you need to se the temp low enough to freeze stuff and keep that frozen stuff towards the bottom in order for them to stay frozen. While this is easily doable, I went with the Dometic CFX-65DZ with the insulator freezer portion for a more pure separation.

I'm assuming you have the DZ as well? Here is mine set at 19* this morning, precooling it for a trip:

    This is set to 19*:

Will go down to 15* next. The goal temps I am looking for are deep freeze in freezer divide, 35 in main fridge and 40 in upper. Cold enough to keep fresh meat from spoiling but not cold enough to freeze my beeyahs.

Do you experience water/beer freezing at your 9* temp? Or do you typically not have a ton of liquids at the bottom? It's always so funny when you pack these things, I'll have stuff strewn all over the counter ready to put it in the fridge thinking there is no way all of this will fit. Then you pack it and realize you still have space for like twice the food.

I don't usually keep a lot of liquids in there. If I do they're in the smaller "front" area. I keep beers in a separate cooler and refreeze blue ice bottles in the freezer using this stuff.

Been very happy with my inreach explorer + as well. It's also sweet looking back at a trip on the map and seeing everything from tracking, to where I was when I sent specific messages, etc. Are you guys running the SOS insurance policy too? The one that's like $17 for the year but covers you in like $100k in SOS costs?

The Death Valley trip continues - Goler Wash, Charcoal Kilns, Mahogany Flat, Panamint Valley, South Pass, and Saline Valley - quite the day.

Return to Death Valley - Day 3

...As I crawled into the tent, a warm light breeze and quiet
sounds of the desert lulled me to sleep quickly. Even if
the springs weren't the amazing destination that they used to be,
the desert itself made up for it - that was for sure.

Little did I know that as I slept change was afoot...
