2016 Sport DBL Cab 4x4 - Would like to remove my hitch for powdercoating since it is rusty before it gets out of hand. Is there anyway to reattach the bumper once I pull it to get the hitch off?

An easier solution would be to cover the area, clean and remove rust the best you can from the area, use spray rust reformer, then several coats of rust oleum spray paint. It would probably be cheaper too.

Thanks, the original owner looked like they painted it with some type of oil based paint and it is all caked on and uneven.

Ah, sand paper that crap off, then respray, it’ll be nicer looking. Powder coat is nice, but from experience when it chips off, touching it up looks like crap too. So I go with what I recommended above for ease of maintenance. I also fluid film my hitch and reveiver occasionally and I have no rust.

Anybody have any ideas for spray paint that will hold up to towing?

    None as of yet
none will. even powder coat will not stand up to the metal on metal on a hitch in the receiver for long. best bet would just be reaplication when you remove your hitch and maybe spray in some rust prevention when you insert for use.

The pictures are confusing as they show the hitch version.
