I like the idea of putting the amp there do you have to run speaker wire from that little amp or does it all plug in behind the head unit. Sounds to easy am I missing something

Not going to do the sub wanted to change out the 4 speakers and the tweets and add the mini amp

Just swapped in the Kicker tweeters. Night and day difference from stock!

I’m sure I’m just missing something, but what speakers should I use for my second gen?

All I am seeing is 3rd gens and the speakers that are recommended don’t fit according to Crutchfield.

Hmm, I think this thread originated in the 3rd Gen forum. I don't know what fits your 2nd Gen, maybe ask in the 2nd gen forums.

This came about when we figured out that Subaru stock Kicker tweeters are a direct replacement for our 3rd gens.

Does anyone know where the below rubber piece goes? It fell off when I removed the panel and I can't figure out where it should go.

Does anybody have pics of how they mounted the Crutchfield supplied mounts to the speakers? I’m not sure what tabs attach with the screws?

Well I got all six Kickers in from what OP originally posted. Did the Noico sound deadening too. I can say I am very happy for the less than $250 I spent it sounds freaking great. Thanks to everybody in this thread for all the info posted.

Slappy is now thumping them beats :D:cool:

Getting close to doing the door speakers. I could have sworn I read somewhere that sound deadening can trap water (or maybe it was create moisture inside the door panels), but not sure where I read it. I would like to do it, but I'll keep this truck at least 10 years, so I don't want to do anything that may cause issues. Does anyone know if there is truth to that or not?

Just make sure that you don't block the little holes on the bottom of the doors. Those are drain holes for when the water drips down from the window glass and gets into the door (between the outer and inner door panels).

Other than those holes, sound deaden away!
