    A70C51EA-4D29-4930-B1D2-666CC3450833.jpg Hey all,

I recently dipped my badges a “smoke” color and while I kinda like how the came out, my initial plan was to go darker than they are now. I think I’m ultimately going to go with black.

Should I just try to clean the badges and re-dip them black or debadge them, clean off the current coats of dip and then re-dip them?

    Thanks

You can just apply black plasti dip onto of the current color.

Or de-badge permanently; gives a clean look to the truck.
First mod to my truck was to lose all badges and stickers.

Thanks, that's what I was unsure of.

Yeah, I've racked my brain back and forth on this. I'm going to give black a go for little bit and decide after a month or so. Thanks for the input.

I advise going black (over top of what's there) and keeping badges. I debadged my last 2 vehicles just to think later that I wished I hadn't. Putting them back on and getting the double-sided tape just right so it doesn't show up is a pain.

Thinking of de-baging mine. Did you do something to take them off so that the paint didn't get ruined when taking off the badges?

I debadged mine. Only to find the paint underneath hadn't faded out like the rest of the body... I'll dip them and reinstall them at some point.

How long did you wait before deciding to de-badge it? I've had my truck about a year and a half. Didn't take the fading into account and that could be an issue in my case.

I dipped my 2012 (traded in for 2018 now) and they turned out awesome. They still looked great after one Adirondack winter and numerous car washes.

I like the cleaner look so I debadged & removed the decals from mine. I think the blacked out look is a little too trendy these days. 8F842942-F655-4B9C-BCE2-8F2FD8B8F470.jpg

Yeah I haven't decided to dip, or just cut some from vinyl. I think the dipped like yours looks good. Better than chrome by a mile.

Like over done led headligjting. They remind me of the rear fender wings of the 50's. How much more outrageous can they get. Although I am into matte and done with gloss and chrome.

Crap! My color is MGM. Need to think about it, but may go through with it and see what happens. If there is fading then I'll put them back.

Been wanting to try out the black overlays but they are kind of pricey.

That looks really clean. The black is too trendy that's why at first i thought of doing red and grey cause red is my favorite color and also adding red tacoma inserts to the interior door panels, glove box and tailgate but I think it'd look too weird.

I'm actually thinking about debadging them this week because I saw a taco the same grey as mine w/o them in person and it looked clean as hell Just waiting for this bipolar severe Midwest weather to pass.

What's your tire/wheel combo? Looks good!

    None yet!
I pulled mine on my cement AC.When I got the badge off on the door, it left black tape that said tacoma, it looked good so I kept the badges in case I want to dip and replace.
For now I like the clean look.
