I don’t have an e-bike but know serious, fit, and skilled mountain bike riders who have one in their quiver. They are 100% legal in some places on singletrack (Class 1 bikes with pedal assist, no throttle, and 20 mph limit for the pedal assist), and they are useful for hauling tools and workers in for remote trailwork on the trails we all ride. Like most things, they have their place, just not in my bike shed ... yet.

Are you wanting to track your ride distance, elevation gained/lost, etc? For that I know a lot of people like Strava, but I found that you need a cell signal at least when you are staring your ride. I use another called Endomondo which will work in remote areas without a cell signal28614078-1A84-4B2B-8A85-2CBF37841EA3.jpgCD19E7C6-5828-4410-8E1C-CFE379E3809E.jpg

What’s a good phone mount for the bike?
Yes, was thinking more along the lines of speed, distance, etc.

Strava wouldn't tell me how to alter the sound file so instead of "Starting ride" it says"STRAVA!!!"

Just looked him up. Crazy amount of stuff going on. There's a few neat ideas on there though. Never interacted with him, so can't speak to that. Whole lotta hashtags doe...

Only people I will support on E-bikes are a few trailbuilder friends of mine that use them to haul in chainsaws, etc and my friend's 67 year old dad that still wants to hang with the young guns. He has the skills to back it up, just not the "youth".

ebikes are a good option for those that are recovering from a long-term injury too. Nothing worse than being told to "take it easy" for 6 months to a year when you still want to get out.

True. But the price of them are pretty high. Not sure I could swing that just for "recovery"

I personally have no interest in an ebike (mountain bikes mostly) and was kind of dead set against them for a while. I always pictured the lazy lards bombing down the cycling path and spooling up the motor while not pedaling.

But I support them now on mountain bike trails for the disabled. If you ever meet someone who is/was actively fit but their body no longer works like it did (think disabled vets etc), then a pedal assist bike is a game changer. And you can not fairly select or discriminate say disabled vs lards vs old people and not others, so I am pro ebike on mountain bike trails. Take the good with the bad.

But can we all agree on one thing we all still hate using mountain bike trails? Horses!

@toddulu I don’t use Strava, but I noticed this ad for Severe Weather Ale in your screenshot. I looked for it in the beer aisle but couldn’t find it nor on BeerSpectator ... who’s the brewer?

cool. clever. Can you send a closer up pick of the inside of the bed with the racks when you get a chance? Love 1ups... but don't want to use on the hitch on a truck. Have the tonneau as well, so this is pretty cool.

On a lot of trails e-MTB is straight up illegal anyway but as a middle-aged beginner on that thing....he'll get eaten alive in that SoCal dirt scene.

I follow him on IG so I'm dying to know (and everything y'all are saying is true) - he got banned from TW?!?
