13 years on my 2nd gen. When I sold it I had nowhere near the rust you've got already. We get 100 inches of snow annually. I wonder why they don't adopt the same road treatment on the east coast? Ours only works to 20 degrees, but I don't believe it's salt based. Keeps the roads bare and dry.

Pfft! Inferno heat and humidity in the summer (A/C is a must), desert dry and frigid in the winter, stark trees for half the year, mosquito hell. . . Nope!

I do miss the twisty, nearly traffic free roads and the two days in the fall when the leaves have turned and it isn't dumping down rain yet. Otherwise, gimme the west all day long.

Sometimes Amazon is the Devil. Price has gone up since I ordered. They are also charging for shipping.

    https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B06XS3TFL1/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o07_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

So now it will run you $15 bucks. But searched around and found them here:

    https://www.ebay.com/itm/2pcs-Anti-...at-Carpet-Clips-Floor-Holder-US-/263374590530

And these will set you back nearly $7 bucks but these might actually hold longer. Mine are good, but I have to question a plastic screw through the carpet vs this seriously hooked in method.

EDIT - if you don't like ebay, here there are on Amazon

That urea-based stuff does work well, if the DoT was proactive enough to apply it at the right times. Sucks on the motorcycle though, unless you have a sidecar. Then, wee!

My favorite time of year is the fall with all the leaves. Mass is absolutely beautiful in the fall. September to November. However, the clean air from the PNW is definitely the best way to go. I love living an hour or less from almost everything: Coast, Mountains, etc. I can have a little everything right where I am located.

I love them, they really weren’t hard to install.

I much prefer the look of no side steps but I also need side steps having my truck lifted. These are much more useful and functional than other side steps. These come down nice and low and make entry more natural. So it gave me the best of both. Nice wide full length steps and they just fold away.

I’m very happy with them and so is my wife.

That and eastern OR, ID, and SW WA are killer for two wheels or four. I'd love to get out of western WA and live somewhere there down the road.

This one is specific to the tail light location. I think page 8 is where the 3rd Gen starts.

    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/rear-diff-vent-behind-the-tail-light-mod.286097/

You can piece your "kit" together or go this route for convenience:

    https://www.yotashop.com/toyota-of-road-vehicle-differential-breather-extension-kit-1012/

Just add some hose clamps and you are good to go.

Totally agree with you. Didn't like the cubby and gas filler area. Plus it's quick and doesn't require any drilling.

Alright doll-face, c'mon and bore me!
That do that here, too. ...AND the salt. Depends on how cold it gets and how much snow is expected.

Picked up the cup holders from Amazon

    https://www.amazon.com/Camco-44044-...coding=UTF8&psc=1&ref=yo_pop_d_yo_pop_d_pd_t2

Then I grabbed some one inch x 1/4 bolts and nuts along with some one inch x 1/4 fender washers and some 1/4 lock washers. The magnets are just the cheap set of ten you can get from Home Depot and I glued them on.

I drilled out the pre-made holes to fit the bolts through then fitted the washers and nuts until the nut was just barely threaded on. I had to take off that plastic cap and the bolt in the rail to get the nut and washers to slide past. So once the path was clear I fed the bolts into the rail using the washers to hold it in the rail. Then once it was in place I tightened everything down. Here’s a couple pics that show it a little better. I know they make t-nuts that could take the place of the fender washer and nuts but I am impatient and live beside a Home Depot so I just used what was close.

EDIT: Here is a link to another thread with similar ideas if that helps

I have had them on my 2017 since week 2 of ownership. Love them. Wife loves them, she finds it easier to get in the truck than it was with my 1st gen with tube steps.

Install was not difficult, took a little time and a trip to get a good drill bit as mine was an ancient POS.
