IMG_0043.jpgI was wondering if some of you folks who tow in the western states could provide some feedback as to how your trucks handle some serious climbs. Had an F-150 with a popup and ran it everywhere out west but now have this. It is 4100lbs loaded and ready to go. Here in Tn it does great. I installed a Larger Trans cooler, mirrors, rear springs, scan gauge II, and most of what I needed to tow safely. I don't drive fast and am mostly never in a hurry so time is not important when towing.

You should be fine. Just tow in 4 and don't be afraid to make the truck work a bit in the mountains (it'll do 55+ in 2nd and on some of the grades that's what you'll need to do to maintain speed). I drag my trailer (4,500lbs dry) all over the eastern sierra nevada mountains.

Thanks man I appreciate it. Most of my vacations are out west. My brother lives in Layton Utah and we go there then head out to the National Parks

I tow all over Colorado with a jaco 175RD and have no problem . I have firestone air bags and a break controller. I am not afraid to let the truck work at times and if needed I will not hesitate to stay in the left lane to let people pass but most of the time I am passing the other TV’s. Understand that even with fule injection your truck will need to compensate for the lack of oxygen at altitude. It’s a 102 miles and a quarter tank of gas from my home to my land where the trailer sets. If it needs to pull at 5500 RPM at times, let it. Never in “D” and if it starts hunting for a gear, gear down. I have a auto.

I live in Southern Idaho (about 4000' elevation), have an 18 Tacoma Sport DCSB and tow my 19' Tracker boat (24' tow length), weighs about 4000 lbs with no issues here in the mountains. Get about 16 mpg on trips of about 120 miles round trip doing 65-70 mph.

Used to live at 6 to 7k towed up to 12k. Diesel or obstruct traffic were the 2 options.
