I want to believe that we are not the only beings in this universe. I really do. But If it is us and the Ferengi I'm done.

I've seen several on the way home. Mostly with backpack blowers.

For every star that we *can* see (of which there are countless), there's the possibility of solar system with planets just like ours; or similar... or completely different...either way it's awfully presumptuous for anybody to say with any certainty that there's no other intelligible life out there, just because we haven't found it or they haven't found us (that we're aware of anyway).

Also I've been abducted so I voted for that :alien: :alien: :alien:

I love how everyone here is saying the logical thing. Yes they exist, space is to big for them not to.

That's the gist of it yea, but when you try saying that to someone that firmly believes that they don't, they don't buy that argument unless you explain it.

But then most of the time they just reference the bible or something, and at that point I just walk away (not intending to start a religious debate....probably too late)

I don't even bother anymore, I let people choose what they want to believe. It's not worth my time trying to argue with an idiot.

I agree with a few others... no way life hasn't evolved somewhere else in the universe. It's so unimaginably huge that there is just no way we're the only place. As someone else said, it may not be human level intelligence, or it could be intelligence we can't comprehend b/c our laws of physics are carbon based due to the Earth being carbon based. Who the hell knows what could be out there.

I've seen some wierd shit in the sky. I'm not saying it's aliens but I can't explain what I've seen, I'm an engineer so I usually try to understand everything. I've seen 3 different "things", with differnt characteristics, over the last 8-10 years where I live... bizarre things. Movements that don't make sense for anything we know of. Hawaii is known as a hot spot for UFO's. The test missile range on Kauai, dozens of telescopes, and an active volcano all contribute to that.

Okay, jokes aside the reason I started this is because I saw something a while back that... surprised me, I guess.

I was deer hunting on family property in the remote country of North Eastern Mississippi. After an uneventful evening, at least at that point, I began to make my way back to the truck and once there I began putting away my rifle and gear. Furthermore, while doing this I took a moment to look up and admire the night sky that was untouched by city light; just me and the stars. That's when I saw a glimmering prism like light that was similar to what a compact disc looks like when you hold the data side up to the light. The object had to be above 20k feet and was flying in a perfect W like pattern without any sway whatsoever making perfect, sharp fluid right angle turns. I watched the object snake like this into the horizon.

It could have been a plane, but I have seen those at night all my life and they have a blinking light and never fly in such manner. I want to believe I saw some next level shit but I watched a couple shows on Aliens and the so called experts just seem kinda... you know, goofy. So I don't know, figured I would ask the tacomaworld community about there thoughts. Admitably, I am cautious about telling people close to me about this.

Can't disagree with the statements above. Space is big and our little Earth sphere is a dot.

Atleast we have the Avengers on our side...so there's that....

With between 60 and 100 Billon possibly habitable earthlike planets in the known universe, you would have to be very naïve not to believe in other life forms.

I will probably get flamed for this, but does no one see the double standard?

    Everyone has faith in something.

A staunch atheist will demand verifiable proof before they will accept any religion, but then be absolutely 100% certain that aliens are as common as spam email with 0.00000000000000 examples of verifiable proof, their faith being grounded in "It's just SO BIG".

It's not that I don't believe, it's that I don't care if aliens are there or not as long as it doesn't affect my direct deposit.
