This was too good to not share.

“You could take the engine out of this car, drop it off the Golden Gate Bridge, fish it out of the water a thousand years later, put it in the trunk of the car, fill the gas tank up with Nutella, turn the key, and this puppy would fucking start right up.”

Could not say it any better than @BartMaster1234.

In my case with the A650 5 speed auto coupled to the 2jz, the whole output shaft was different from the previous JDM transmission and the US version. On top of that, the solenoids between the Japanese (10 pin connector) and US model (12 pin) were wired to the pins in different spots for the same action to complicate it even more. Wait until you find the correct splined torque converter and try mating it up to the wrong flexplate on the motor, despite the bellhousing being correct. So many variables ...But nonetheless it sounds like an awesome transmission!! Dont mean to be discouraging but it's most likely a huge can of worms on that 1jz tranny...

There are commonly avaliable shift kits out there for the a340 which you might find benifical and can possibly do yourself. Just search online for "Toyota A340 shift kit" and you'll see exactly what I mean.

I appreciate the advice man. If I can just swap some internals over such as clutch packs, valve body I would be happy. At the very least its a learning experience.

idk as much about the a series

But if its like the R series you could potentially just swap the middle section out and over. Have to break the whole tranny down but not impossible.

    Reg cab? I thought he put it in a 4runner. Plus..meh. Was a 2jzge.

Off topic, but I see that you have the timing advance on your UG...I didn’t realize that was a reading it could take. Anyway, I’m not entirely sure but I think I’m having timing issues on my motor I had installed last November. Would the timing advance tell me if it’s for sure the timing that’s off?

hahahaha! Where do I find the mappings for LTFT? (and I agree - doesn't matter much for me, since the thing I'm seeing now is a difference between B1 and 2)
    Would appreciate it! :hattip:

Still catching up on this thread from yesterday but are you referring to the same restrictor jet we were talking about a few days ago? What were your findings with it on vs off?

I've been meaning to put mine back in just to rule it out as the cause of my CEL I got a few days later, even though I'm sure it's just coincidence but I want to be certain before I order a new O2 sensor.

Oh, and I'll just mention this too while I'm posting for anyone that might have some idea...but last night I was doing a bit of night wheeling on a local trail, testing out the new Dakars (awesome, btw)...when we got back onto the highway after the trail my boost gauge wasn't working   It was illuminated but the needle wasn't moving at all. I plugged my OBDII in to see if it would show me a P0171 code (if the boost vacuum line came loose I imagine it would), as soon as I did that the gauge started working again. Checked the lines when I parked the truck and everything was connected. Been working since. Weird.

I have the oportunity to pick up a low mileage 1uz-fe thats in a 90 toyota pickup now. This would be sweet https://fourwheelforum.com/showthread.php?t=248. hmmmm lots of work.

Also an interesting observation that I made yesterday. While changing my battery cables I left the body ground off. (Just an oversight) Found out there is no grounding from engine to body except that little wire. None of my lights would work. I added some additional grounds from cab to frame and engine. Lights seem alot brighter.

I mounted mine the same way. I have had it there for several months and it works well.

Makes me wish I had gotten a Scangauge instead of the OBDII plug in with the Torque app on my phone...it works but I don't have a good place to mount my phone and the app drains the battery really fast. Works good for checking/clearing codes though.

I got this mount and it works really well and keeps my eyes closer to the road when Im using gps. I was using a magnetic vent clip mount for a while but I did not like it.

Nice, I'll check it out....$18 can't go wrong. I have one of those mounts that goes into the CD player, but it takes my eyes away from the road and it's kind of a pain to setup. Worst of all it blocks the radio functions.

I mounted my @Baja Designs OnX6 Hi-Power light bar on my new bumper.
I still need to flip the face plate. I mounted it upside down so the wires would point down into the winch compartment.

You sure you got all your gaskets and shit seated right when you put the SC on. What do your trims do at idle when the SC is doing nothing. If they don't go back to +/- 5% then I think you might just have a huge vac/boost leak.

A while ago you mentioned it should be higher off the ground. So I took your advice and bought a bumper :)

Any of you follow califab on instagram? The 1st gen they just got done with looks pretty nice, as far as I can tell anyway. I don’t know why you wouldn’t move the gas tank after all that though
