We have a German Shepherd and a Yellow Lab so in the same boat as you. I have the Clazzio leather covers and love them. We have "dog blankets" at the house and I just toss one over the back seat before they ride in the truck. Usually take it out and replace with a new one 1X a week and wash it. Easy clean and keeps the leather nice. Even if the hair gets on the leather it wipes right off.

This guy has it right. Double up on the protection. Those dog hammocks make cleaning so easy.

I put a set of Bartact covers in the back for ours. Getting some hair collected now so I'll know in a week or two how easily it cleans. They seem to be a good mix between canvas and pure neoprene. I don't expect they will be hot, nor are they as rough as true canvas. We live in Texas so heat's an issue with anything that doesn't breath well. Almost like a more durable version of stock covers in the Offroad.

THANKS for all the replies. I am 100% pro dog hammock...but remember, I have a 5 year old and a car seat. So I can't do both. I do have a cover on it now that I take out and wash, but hair floats. Some fabrics just absorb it more. I will keep looking. I don't mind vacuuming but not every few weeks.

BTW, how is NeoSupreme vs WO?

For those that have clazzios, which I LOVE, any worries about punchers?

Ahh, the joys of a truck vs an SUV.

Neoprene are awesome - but the dog hair gets inbedded and it's a SERIOUS pain to get out. My dog (German Wirehaired Pointer) goes in the back in her kennel. It would be great to have her up front but just too damn messy. There's really not enough room for 2 big kids and a dog in the back seat.

What I was afraid of. I plan to use a cover, but hair flies, but he's my buddy that will go with me often.

I use a dog hammock in the back seat. Works great, breaks down quick.

Any chance you could share some links to what you use? I just got my Carhartt covers in, but have been wanting to do door panel covers - mine go crazy when they know we're going hiking too.

I believe these are the correct ones. They're extremely durable. Looks like these ones don't include the window tabs though and you have to pay extra for them. IMO I would just stuff the stitched ends into the door panel like I did. They've held up great. If you don't want to do that I could send you mine, just pay for shipping and it should save you a few bucks. The window clips on these are better than other products on Amazon because the clips have tabs which help keep it in the window.

I'd just buy whatever is on an Amazon lightning deal. Most of them are pretty much the same and they'll wear out eventually.

@DrSouthpaw thanks for all that info! The clips were one of the issues I was concerned about and also wanted to make sure they'd be sized right for the doors. I'll just order from Amazon and will probably try just stuffing into the door panel like you suggested.

Dog hammock or lots of vacuuming here.

I have 3 medium sized dogs two lab mixes that shed like crazy and a pit mix. The pit mix by far sheds the least. But I am pretty OCD and hate the hair everywhere in my truck so I just vacuum a lot. Strangely I dont seem as bothered by the hair in the house. I just need to learn to live with it I guess.

Any feedback on how the Bartacts held up to the dog hair? I was eyeballing their covers but I'd like to hear how they do with dog hair before I pull the trigger. My pup is a large spitz type breed, bit like a husky, so dog hair everywhere is just "the norm". She's one of the best things that ever happened to me though, so I suppose it's kinda worth it :p
