I have heard CMMG makes LPKs for lots of companies that re-brand them.

Since we are talking Irons..this is what I have..it is ingenious, but I rarely use it. It is a double dual sight. It has 2 sets of peep sights and 2 sets of open sights. And it folds down perfectly

I've got a MaTech sitting in my parts box. My magnifier doesn't clear it.

+1 for Troy iron sights. I also like to pair the Troy front sight with a rear from Rock River Arms. That is what I normally recommend to people inquiring about irons.

There was a discussion I recall from several years ago on M4C.net. Someone compared a bunch or parts kits and found a bunch of them all contained identical components (same casting marks, etc). The conclusion was that, similar to receivers, almost all are made by just a few manufacturer's, they are just repackaged for retail. I'll try to find the info. It was pretty interesting how many "manufacturers" are selling parts that all originated in the same place.

Yep, just like Anderson manufactures 70% of the lowers on the market.

And when you mention Anderson, the gear whores with a lower that started its life in their forge turn their noses up and scoff...

While the AK will likely forever be my go-to, I have had a long relationship with Stoner's platform. My first was a Colt Sporter Lightweight that I bought for about $700 back in '95 or '96. It was a hard pill to swallow since you could pick up AK's with machined receivers all day long for around $250. I think I sold it for almost double that in '99. A few years later, I found myself with a Bushmaster XM15 that I sold in 2004. I was AR-less until I decided to try my hand at building, so I picked up a couple of RRA stripped lowers leading into the 2008 election cycle, which probably caused those frankenbuilds to set me back more than I could pay today for a DDM4 off the rack. I've done a few more builds since prices have settled back down (comparatively), but those have all been on Spike's lowers.

Yeah, but I'm not using ACOGs anymore. I prefer having the option to switch to BUIS without having to dismount the optic (even with a QD). My magnifier is in a swivel mount.

You started your first builds around the same time I did! But I likely wasn’t even a twinkle in my dads eye when you got your Colt Sporter.
