Picked up this nifty for extinguisher when I was at a Porsche track event last weekend. Looks like a road flare but it's an extinguisher .The one I bought discharges for 50 seconds and stores nearly in my glove compartment.

Just don't get it mixed up with the actual road flares.

Looks cool. But is it a "one shot johnny"? If you use it, can it be refilled?

It seems like an interesting idea, however I do have some concerns. Without residue discharge, it wont smother to prevent re-ignition. For liquid fires, the discharge area doesnt seem strong/large enough to prevent "pushing" the fire around.

I wonder why it claims ABC on the cylinder if it's not using ABC powder?

    What haven’t I changed?
I found this video on youtube that was a bit more in-depth than the marketing vid put out by the company. You can see it has some trouble putting out a gas-soaked t-shirt. I'm also concerned about how close you need to be to the fire in order for it to be effective.

Which is why I said never mind. There's a reason why this extinguisher doesn't have a UL listing. It's because it's junk and it's ABC claim is nonsense. At best this would be a BC extinguisher, but the marketing wanks took over and realized no one would buy it if it was properly classified.

I'd wonder if the cylinder even had a DOT rating since they claim it's exempt from needing any work ever.

Nice but whats the pitch? Are they equating it to a standard 5lb extinguisher recommended for cars? No way!

I think you are supposed to throw it into the fire.

I'm a Volunteer Firefighter and I wouldn't recommend this at all. I'd have to say this is useless and dangerous, making you think you have a fire extinguisher. Junk and dangerous, I'd recommend an ABC rated fire extinguisher. The bigger the better.
