    2 weeks ago I brought my truck in for a noise from the rear...it wasn't the diff howl. It sounded more like a brake pad dragging on a rotor. Turns out there's a "resonator" tack welded inside the rear axle housing just above the diff gears. Apparently that came loose and was being shaved down by the gears. Long story short...I'm getting a new housing and new rear diff! Yay!
