That's too funny. When I saw the WRX, I thought "I wonder if that is Caleb."!

Thank you, thank you, thank you! Got the wife to climb in the bed of the truck and bounce it, while I lay on the ground and sprayed until it got quiet. So happy to not hear that damned squeaking... I may need to buy stock in the company!

Took the ATV out to Peters Mill Run and Taskers Gap over the weekend. Had a blast. Bombing down the Peters Mill Run trail was a hoot - met a couple of Jeep convoys while doing it.

    IMG_5624.jpg

Didn't wheel the Tacoma - just a tow vehicle, camping base station and used to recover my buddies Dodge Ram 1500 when he got himself stuck doing something he shouldn't have.

The real fun was about 10 minutes after taking the above picture. Going W on Route 7 past Leesburg I looked in my rear view mirror and saw a huge plume of smoke coming from the rear of my truck. NUTS. Hazard lights on, pulled to the side. Walked around back. The hitch had popped off, the safety chains were the only thing keeping the trailer with me. The smoke? That spare tire was the only thing keeping the hitch from dragging. Burned up that spare.

Turns out when I attached the trailer I was in a big rush (did it the night before after a last minute trailer tail light repair). I thought it had locked in place but clearly it had not - I had the trailer loaded down a little heavy up front (notice the firewood in front of the ATV), that made the angle a little off and created a problem for the hitch actually getting around the ball. The weight on that trailer made it hard to tell if it was actually in place. The fact that I made it from my house to my buddies place 14 miles away (where I took that pic) without it falling off was incredible. Lesson learned.

Bright side the only damage was that I need a new spare tire, though my friend that pulled over in the trailing truck observed that the spare should be fine, it's only flat on the bottom.

Yeah, went about as well as could be expected. Worth the cost of the spare tire for that little lesson.

My observant friend told me about how his boss was towing his Harley on a trailer through the Colorado rockies and looked to his left while going down hill to see his trailer pass him. That would have been WAY worse.

@Superman910... do I have an episode of FMR for you...

so as you guys know, I picked up that old Cherokee yesterday for stupid cheap... well a buddy of mine just posted up on Facebook that he lost his job, has a newborn, and is in need of a vehicle... So call it Karma, fate, God, or whatever... but I felt compelled to give it to him, so I called him and he's really excited.

so, I'm not going to flip it, I'm not going to mod it, I'm going to hook a friend up....

but that being said, I have the 4x4 / truck itch bad! haha

Sucks for your friend. Hope he gets back on his feet soon. And good job looking out for the guy. I'm sure you will find something else.
