Just bought a 2017 with 11k miles and wondering if anyone has had dealerships honor toyotacare 2/25k service for second owner of a qualifying vehicle.... Thanks!

Funny you ask - I just called my dealer to see if it had it, and they didn't care WHO I was, only wanted to know the VIN!

Toyota care is a performance contract between Toyota and it’s dealers...the beneficiary of that agreement is the vehicle. They ask of the vin to identify the beneficiary of said contract.

Yes, transferable to the second owner. No fee required. You get the balance of what's left over. If you're buying it from a Toyota dealer see if they will certify it.

Toyota Care is only good for uppper 48 and Alaska, I'm in Hawaii and it says not eligible! I guess we're a turd world state.....

You're not missing much. 2 oil changes and a couple tire rotations. They didn't even rotate my wife's tires under one Toyota Care. I had the tires marked so I could see which way they were rotated, same exact place when I got home to check. Looked on the invoice, it stated they we're rotated. Guess who found another dealership to buy his truck from?

This is exactly why my truck won't be participating in Toyota care... I'd rather do it myself and know it's been done correctly.

No kidding. Especially since the skid has to be removed. I could see a tech who likes to take shortcuts drain and fill the oil, but never change out the filter.

I won’t argue about the ‘turd world state’ status of your home, but Toyota Care not being honored there is because of the Servco monopoly. It’s their fault, not Toyota’s.

Oh, and we call them the Lower 48.

On the filter, there really isn't a way to check. I used to mark mine with a silver tip sharpie, but with the cartridge you can't do that anymore. Good luck. I'm sure most dealerships and techs are good, but there are definitely bad ones out there.

Yeh.. Didn't think about that... Was thinking about my 2000 camry and how I can reach the filter from where I raise the hood... lol

I'm probably a bit harsh on dealer service, the one time I had a basic sensor recall on my vw, they busted my armrest. They replaced it for free, but not until after I confronted them about it. I'm sure there are plenty of good techs, but I just don't trust dealers as a whole.
