So I was installing the pop an lock and have gotten to the hooking of the electrical. The instructions say to use white and green, one YouTube video said green and red and a second reversed the connection. So being the smart I am I decided to stuff the wires into the harness to see which combination worked. It became a pain in the ass so I pulled the harness and touched the wires directly to the pins. In doing so I arced off what I think is the bsm light in the passenger mirror. I say this because now the bsm doesn't work at all and my lock buttons and key fob don't work to lock or unlock the doors also the timer for shutting off the head and tail lights are working anymore either. I've looked at both fuse panels but don't see anything specific. I'm assuming the bsm and the locking and headlight timer are on separate relays but I need to know which ones to replace to get it functioning again because not being able unlock the doors is annoying but also...im an idiot

Not being a smartass, but do you know how to check for blown fuses?

Yes I'm pretty mechanically inclined. I just can't see the fuse or relay specific to the issues

the Glass fuse can be checked by looking at them. Check if the element is burnt. Or get a multimeter to check them.
Disconnect the Battery when you are working on the electrical so you don't cause problems like this.

Yes I physically pulled the fuses I felt would be relevant to these issues from the description of the panels but have found nothing broken

Pull the fuses and put an ohmeter on them if u have no resistance then its blown! Most of the time I can not tell just by looking at them! Another test is to check the voltage on the wires u shorted out! If u do have voltage than u got a bigger problem then just a fuse!

While you're troubleshooting with your multimeter, go ahead and have someone help find the right wires too. I haven't read the instructions but since it's for a pop and lock I can assume you're looking for wires that gets power/ground when the doors are locked and unlocked. Attach the multimeter to the harness using back probes if you have them and actuate the locks. Find the wire that gets power while doing that. Always verify you have the right wires with your multimeter.

There are a ton of electrical self resetting fuses on the shit you blew. I’d disconnect the battery for 5 mins first, while it’s disconnected check the fuses with a multimeter, (harbor freight $5 one is good enough for fuses if you don’t have one). You didn’t mess up any relays by shorting what you did, but you could have easily messed up BSDM or Central locking circuits boards, hopefully they are protected, guess you’ll find out. Check every single fuse, won’t take you 10mins.

Read the official PDF next time, not some moron on YouTube. The Toyota install PDF for the tailgate lock is perfect and the wire colors and location are different depending on body style.

Well the truck will beep with the keys unlock button only but no buttons or keys actuate the locks. Ill go through it with a fine tooth comb tomorrow I was just seeing if anyone knew specifically where those particular fuses and relays are.

Looks like if it's the dl fuse I'd have had a lot more issues if I had the smart key system
