It was a rough mother in the early 60's. Trashed many vehicles and kept many away. Then like rats they found their way in via Gunnison.

Last time I was there it was ruined - overrun by out-of-state fifth wheel visitors who stayed the entire summer moving everyother week to a site controlled by their home-folk camp host. Total BS. I went to the Ranger station and gave them a major ass chewing. The camp host was not invited back the following year. My kids were in Grade School then. Have not been back since - but now returning with them and my Grandkids. Expecting the worse but hoping for the best. Just going to make the best of it.

@Star-Lord or anyone else ever build a Hobbit door? :p

Or you have any local sources for heavy duty and decorative hinges if we can't find anything local. Owners want one for the grandkids to go into a little hidden area.

nope and nope. I'd keep it as light as possible though.
Looks like these are custom made, but you could use a basic barn door hinge and it would pass.

yeah, still not sure what material they want it made out of. Its an afterthought... like a bunch of the stuff they want so theres not much room on one side of the opening. I also liked the idea of it pivoting 1/3 of the way in, but if a kid got a part pinched in that small section when it was closing that wouldn't go over well. Gotta keep those snowflake bubbles in tact.

a novelty door like that on a kids playroom will just invite pinched fingers.

    Are you on septic?

And are you draining it to a holding tank first or a french drain, or ?

Dam. I wonder if poured concrete with steel grates would of been cheaper.... @Stig

Yes septic. No holding tank. According to the inspector all I have to do is daylight the pipe outside.

As long as you were doing it yourself... could eat up that same number paying for someone to frame and pour that in addition to finding grates that would fit.

Plenty of ways to skin a cat... Could've used smaller sections of that drain, like one 6ft drain in front of each door and connect them in between. Would be a little more slab work to slope them to the drains individually vs sloping the whole slab one direction.

Might have been about the same since I would have had to pay the concrete guys extra

Nice, yeah depends on where you are. I know some places would want a holding tank or even grease interceptor to keep oils out of the septic/sewer. Then again depends on what its being used for.

Yup. I made sure. Told the inspector it would be a garage/storage. Might have forgot to mention the lift that will be inside of it. Oh well. If at any time in the future I am forced to put in a separator put it will be very easy.

    Always hated installing those things....

Make sure you support the hell out of it. Nothing worse than having it move during the pour.
