Anyone have RCI skid plates on your first gen? The GB going on is tempting but the 3/16" IFS skid says it weighs 38lbs on their site which like 15lbs lighter than other 3/16 skids that I've seen unless I'm mistaken. Supposedly is the same size too. Just wondering if anyone has anything to say about 'em

My Budbilt 3/16" steel skid weighs 55lbs...they make the same skid in 1/4" aluminum that weighs 35lbs. Are you sure the RCI skid isn't aluminum?

Yea thats what I thought too. Maybe they weighed it wrong, but according to their site, 3/16" steel and it weighs 38lbs. Their aluminum is 19lbs.

Definitely not the same size. The RCI has way less coverage. Compare this front bubuilt:

That's what i got. Came with the right thermostat.

Not too hard but requires a lot of tools. Watch @timmah video on it and get the right tools for the job. I had to buy 2 breaker bars (different lengths) for instance.

Otherwise it's not that hard. I could do a truck in an afternoon now easily.

yeah I thought the RCI looked way narrower, I guess on the plus side it's lighter weight...probably better for someone that doesn't get too crazy wheeling. My Budbuilt IFS skid has good coverage but it has gotten pretty bent up from being smashed. I think if someone wants maximum protection it's probably wise to go 1/4" steel and get an IFS skid that has the reinforcements on the inside, like BAMF or Mobtowns has. But man...those skids would be a pain to have to take on and off. I have to use a floor jack on my 55lb Budbuilt skid otherwise its a nightmare to get back on.

It looks nice for sure, it just looks suuuuper high, but I dunno, if I could afford something like that I’d buy it just to hunt out of.

Installed bed extender brackets and mounted the bed extender, bad part about this is that the topper is in the way of its 180 rotation.
