Passenger Door Smart Key System

@Victory you're the man! Thanks for figuring this out. But now I blame you for making me another $200 poorer. Did the Lexus card key right when I got my Tacoma, now I'll be doing this very soon. What else can you make me spend money on?

 

Just a heads up everyone @EagleUSMCRet is reporting after following my instructions the passenger handle still isn’t working, we are trying to troubleshoot through it, but it is possible we may still have some unforseen issues we have to work through before this will work for everyone.

EDIT: We got it working, looks like I probably wasn’t clear enough on which wires to tap, I’ve updated the first post with a labeled pinout.

Figuring out what is wrong remotely is NOT an easy task.

 

Victory is the man!!!!! Mine is now working... had wrong wires tapped... he sent another diagram... confirmed wiring... if it doesn’t work... start the truck... shut off and try again... Victory victory Victory!!!!

 

Glad I could help, glad we got it working. There are other blue and green wires in that same harness, including a blue on each side of the green, which I hadn’t realized were so close. I should have included that pin out diagram the first time to avoid confusion.

 

I agree, the diagram does make it clearer to understand. Nice work with the tech support!

Wait, he posts a free instructional with part numbers, then does tech support too? Now that’s better customer service than some of these corporations out there. As long as your support isn’t diverted over seas, this guy rules! @Victory were not letting you get rid of your Tacoma anytime soon, we need you.

Glad I can help, I didn’t want to put something out there that didn’t work for everyone.

I’m not going anywhere anytime soon. I had my 4Runner for close to 12 years, and when I’m ready for a new vehicle in another ten years, I probably will keep the Tacoma as a 3rd vehicle for when I need a bed, and buy a non truck (I’ve been driving less than 7k a year).

I’m not sure if there is much else I can do though. I’m not an electrical engineer or anything, just a DIY guy who doesn’t mind digging through wiring diagrams and the truck when I get the time.

 

Well sir, youve proven yourself competent enough so I’m just going to outrite say it, I will find you our next pain point to solve!

 

Heads up I just got notice that the housing connector f, part number 90980-12A30 is on a national backorder. ETA is 05/16, with 9 currently on order. Looks like I have a few more weeks to wait.

 

Hmm I wonder why...this forum has ways to deplete things that otherwise collect dust haha next thing we know they’ll be asking for a VIN haha

 

Toyota got a rush on orders for this part that they usually sell maybe 1 per month, now selling 10 per day...lol

 

There could be another connector that works in its place, but someone would have to dig around the vehicle to find it. Or could maybe be from another Toyota or Lexus vehicle too. Anyone with a 3D printer want to start making the connector?

 

For $6 would it even be worth someone printing this? I am sure this is in multiple Toyota vehicles, but also could be the same part number.
