2014 2.7L Prerunner Double Cab Automatic with stock suspension. Wanted to improved my limited off-road experience while maneuvering rutted and washboard dirt roads while camping. Next trip will be approx. 45 miles on dirt roads with many neglected sections that will be fairly bumpy.

I've been told my overall drive on-road and off-road would improve by installing Bilstein 5100's. I was thinking of setting the front at .85 which will get pretty close to leveling the vehicle in the process. Or for best ride quality is it better to leave it at .00?

I plan to add Cooper Discoverer AT3 LT245/75/16 108R C1. Should I increase tire size for improved performance?

    Feedback would be appreciated.

    Thank you! Jim

For a less harsh ride and longer life, I would keep your 5100's set at 0 and get some taller coils to provide the lift up front. Pair the 5100's with an AAL out back, or just leave as is if you're not concerned about load in the rear. The stock leaf pack is a joke and should be one of your first suspension upgrades.

As for tires, size doesn't correlate with performance. The 245/75/16 AT3's will serve you just fine. I had AT3's before I bought my ST Maxx's and loved them. It's a solid tire that maintains the MPG's that the rugged fails produced from the factory.

    MadRiverTaco,

THANK YOU for taking the time to respond to my post. I appreciate your feedback and sharing your knowledge. I've contacted Wheeler's Off-Road to discuss and price-out the options you have suggested. This stuff is all new to me and I am doing my best to learn.

    All the best!

    Jim
