Hello everyone, I’ve had my truck since 2013 and can’t believe I barely joined! Anyway, guess it’s never too late. I have 50k miles and a lot of them are from fishing trips to Baja. I don’t actually do much off-roading but I do enjoy it. I would actually go on trails more locally if I knew the right people and they would let a newb tag along. Recently put a top on (which will be color matched soon), and looking to finally upgrade to better suspension with some lift. Will probably go with Bilstein 5100’s or 6112’s in the front and not sure to just do 5100’s for the rear as well or 5160’s. Usually on the way back from a Baja trip I’m hauling back a big full cooler(about 200 lbs maybe more), plus other gear and now the topper. Not sure if either of those shocks will help with the weight. But any info/recommendations help! Thanks in advance!

    Edgar.

Welcome aboard.............Leafs handle the load, shocks control it. Add-a-leaf and 5100s unless you're going for next level with more than 2" of lift. When's the fish fry? or grill? I knew a few salty tacos back in the day.......none drove Tacomas, lol...careful, fishin gear funds are about to dry up with all there is to spend on the truck.

    Welcome to TW!

Upgrade shocks will help with the ride quality but will still sag under the weight. Springs is what you would need.

Gotcha! Thanks. I’m having trouble figuring out what leafs exactly to maintain a level ride height with the front. Looks like I’m gonna get 5100’s all around with OME 2884 coils for the front. From what I’ve read, I should get 2” of lift on the lowest setting with those coils. I was looking at getting the Dakar leaf set, it says it will raise the back 2.75”. Is that going to overshoot the 2” lift on the front to stay level? Or how can I maintain a level look. Maybe you have a better recommendation. Also, should I even get the coils I mentioned for the front? I was only getting them because during my trips I usually have a full load of passengers so I figured that would help. Or will I be fine with the stock coils and just go up to a different setting on the shocks for the lift? Thanks again.
