    Few weeks ago.

But if it’s some guardian thing, it might be caused because I am running normally with CNG and that thing’s map is not properly tuned (goes lean, but I’ve avoid that). Anyways UCON is worked fine 7 months/10k miles with the same setup/adjustments.

I’ve noticed the guardian few times, but it’s instant/short time engine cut down. The guardian mode will go away instantly when the AFR is returned back to normal.

Compressed natural gas and a super charger?Anywho, usually you get a cel when engine guardian kicks in and you have to reset the ucon before it will drive right at proper wot afrs. Hence disconnect battery like @Torspd said. Afrs should be okay at idle and steady speed regardless if engine guardian is on or not. But sometimes the ucon will do things it shouldn’t. If you still have the 455s installed than pop out the ucon and see if you’re still rich at wot on the TRD flash.

Yes. The original gasoline system (except the fuel pump is changed) is alongside ”untouched”. I can choose which I want to use.
Yes, the 455s, but I don’t have the TRD flash. I had it (before the UCON) in different ECU, but it didn’t work almost at all (very lean after 2000 rpm, also when not moving).

I’ll take the battery cable off for a night.

Just installed a 2.3” pulley last week and under a watchful eye my wideband is telling me I am running much richer than usual 10.2-10.8 at WOT. I got in touch with Scott and he responded back in his words “10.2 is the target AFR for anything over 150 percent load as there won’t be any margin for error to protect the engine”. Seems excessively rich to me, even with protection in mind. What’s also confusing to me is when I was runnng the rotrex setup, the Calibration I initially had was allowing me to see regularly 11:3-11:8 WOT. What gives?

Did you get any datalogs? I havent looked to see what my load is with a 2.5 but it's probably close to yours.

What was your load with the rotrex?

The discharge air is most likely hotter with the roots. That's probably the reason he is targeting so rich.

Can’t begin to think what the load was for the rotrex setup. It ran great, AFR ‘s were on point and pulled hard so I didn’t dig any further at the time.
The roots lower efficiency especially at higher outputs was also my thought as to why Scott set the target lower as well. I’ve asked Scott to see what he thinks about setting the afr target higher once meth is installed. We will see what he says, but I’d imagine it be okay to set it up a few points to say the least.

I agree especially with the meth. Discharge temps will most likely be below ambient so I dont know why not to set the target at 11.2 to 11.5.
With meth there should be plenty of margin and if the meth system failed it's still borderline safe.

BTW thanks for the belt wrap mod! @Roostfactor I’ll get it on as soon as it arrives in the mail. She’s holding boost steady at a 10-11.5 psi at 3500 ft above sea level, but any chance for any amount of pulley traction improvement I’ll take. I’d really appreciate what others are seeing for AFR’s with 2.55” or smaller pulley? Seems counterintuitive to me to step down pulley sizes with the intention of more power if the massive afr enrichment negates much of the gains.
Can’t say I agree it needs that much extra fuel to keep it on the safe side but then again I’m sure Scott knows what he’s doing, although my speculation is it’s a tad more on the safe side then actually needed, as customers with blown engines spreading the words via forums is bad for business. Maybe @Torspd could chime in, the man that’s taken these motors to broken little pieces and back.

It is every bit for protection. Due to the inherent weaknesses of the 1GR. Getting close to it's threshold for strength, and any ripple in the rift will unravel it all. If it goes below 10:1, it will bog though.

    Your very welcome!
With 2.5 pulley, ported lower manifold, 76mm tb, full exhaust I'm at 11.4ish.
    I think others are similar.

What would you say the amount of power that is left on the table.. say 10.5ish afr vs 11.5?
If it’s negligible and fuel economy is mostly the one that gets the shit kicking then I’m okay with that. This truck’s fuel economy has been horrendous since boosted 4 years ago anyways, so I’ve come to terms with that, as well it’s no longer my daily driver nor tow vehicle.

I am running Urd equal length headers, Urd Ypipe, 3” exhaust and slighly ported/cleaned up lower plenum, then meth and the 76mm TB to come.
Am I the only one running this rich with a similar sized pulley?
@Athlaos is running the 2.0” pulley and he’s also in the 11’s for afr’s. If what Tor says is true, why the descrepancy?

Good question and one mostly for Scott although I know he also runs the fpr mod which is supposed to be a no no for UCON so maybe his UCON never gets a chance to learn due to for mod?

Do you have any datalogs? If so what is your max maf?

Interesting that he has the FPR mod. My FPR is hooked up to the intake so I know that it is not the contributing factor for me. Although confirmed by Scott himself the afr command is 10.2, maybe it will lean out a bit as it learns. I still owe him a couple data logging samples, but I haven’t gotten a chance due to this freak snow storm:santa:. Hopefully things warm up here shortly. When and if it does I’ll report back my max maf.

Sounds good. Crazy man 88°F here today.
For reference my max maf is (I think) 351 or 354g/s.
Maybe I'll take a look at my load to see what commanded was at that maf.

So as my graph shows (with 640cc injector tune) a commanded afr of 11.3 at 170% air load and 351.4g/s maf.
That is an estimated 415HP at the crank!

I dont remember if you have the larger injectors but that very well may be the difference. Maybe with the 455's at 150% load he commands the ecu to just dump as much in as possible because at that point you would have to be close to maxing out the idc.

Here is my idc with 455cc injectors and 2.7 pulley. 93.3% idc is why I recommend people dont go smaller than 2.8 with UCON.15385341236352798799116874665879.jpg
Notice though that commanded afr was still 11.46 at 153.9% air load.

Hmm. Thanks a tons for digging into your graph!
Well that confirms that infact the command afr varies from yours to mine, although I’ll confirm what the definite commanded number is at those loads in utune once I get home.
I am running the the Urd Deka 800cc injectors so I’d imagine there is still room left within the IDC.

    Of course!
That 93% dc was with 455cc injectors on a 2.7 pulley.
My idc now with 2.5 and 640's is around 80% so you have headroom.
