Can anybody help me figure out which xb morimoto fogs are the right ones for my 18 tacoma? I know there are slightly different shapes for the 2nd and 3rd gen tacomas, and searching on Amazon I can't figure out which ones are the right ones. An Amazon link would be amazing

    @DLRIII @matt636

As far as the Cougar LED bulbs go, I agree with you that they appear to be great bulbs based on reviews and number of purchased. I have not seen on this thread anyone that has purchased these yet or wrote a review on them. I personally considered these when I was originally looking, and out of all of the bulbs I have tested so far I have not tested these. Just from Experience so far and the different bulbs I have tested here are my thoughts.

These CougarMotor LED's will probably perform best in your HighBeam and Fog Light reflector housing. Still, to this day THESE Hikari Phillips are the best for the low beam projector housing. I am guessing it is because of the way they are designed and cut. I have used those as well as Hikari CREE XHP50, AuxBeam f-S2, and AuxBeam F-16 in my low beam projectors. The Hikari Cree and AB F-16 have the same style design as these CougarMotor bulbs so they should perform pretty equally, but I do not believe they will not perform better than the Hikari Phillips LED bulbs when used in the low beam housing

I am very curious about these Cougar LED bulbs and I have no doubt that these will perform well as FogLights and HighBeam Bulbs. I do doubt there performance in the LOW Beams though. Your light projection and throw may be greatly reduced. In fact, during my tests, I concluded that the Hikari Phillips bulbs did not perform as well in the reflector housing as they do in the LB. My guess is that is due to the design. It seems that the design of the Hikari Cree and these Cougar LED bulbs work better in reflector housings.

With all that said, if you are switching from stock Halogen to these LED bulbs, I doubt you will be disappointed, to say the least. You might benefit from taking a look at my BUILD THREAD and see what I am using to date.

If I were to change any of my bulbs out to see if i could find a better one it would be as follows....

HighBeams: I would compare my already installed Hikari Cree XHP50 to the CougarMotor LED
FogLights: I would compare my already installed AuxBeam F-16 to Hikari Cree XHP50 and the CougarMotor LED
LowBeams: Hikari Phillips I wouldn't change these out for anything. They have proven to be the best so far.

Awesome man. Thanks for all the good information. I'm sold on the Phillip's hikari leds for the low beams, and I'm probably going to go with the xb morimoto smoked fog housing/lights for reasons I stated in an earlier response. I will probably hold off on highs since I almost never use them

You're welcome. Glad I could help. For sure the XD Morimoto is going to prove better than any LED bulb replacement.

Thank you very much for your response! You appear to have a lot of experience in the LED world and that's exactly what i was looking for. With the LED technology moving so fast it seems hard to keep up with what truly is the latest greatest.

With that said, i'm even more confused now. everything I've read until now says to only use the LED in your projectors because the reflectors?

Can you confirm though, that i'll be able to use the exact LED's i bought for both low and fog? i thought the high beams had a different bulb (not H11)?

with that said, i'm also running a caliraised led 32" bar, so anytime i'd use my high beams i'd turn that bar on. that's why i wasn't overly concerned on swapping my high's at this point. but, maybe i need to re-think that i put both these says in highs and lows and then put lamin-x (yellow) over my fogs?

i guess right now my goal was to match up the color of my lows/fogs with my DRL's and my CaliRaised LED bar as i'm half-assed color blind and the halogen color is very dull for me.

Also, i know you've not tested these specifically, but should these literally be plug and play for both lows & fogs? i shouldn't have to remove anything else or modify anything should i?

I'm glad to see you agree that these look like decent choices though and you're right that once they're in, i'm sure i'll not be disappointed.

Thank you. I like them a lot. I got a great deal on these ($130) and sold my OEMs for $65 to another member so not bad for $65 bucks.

Wow that is a great deal, you seem to be finding lots of good deals haha. Forgot I could sell my stock fogs to fund more mods. I asked my wife what I should do first and she said lights first, then speakers haha. Keeping her involved makes us both happy, and makes it more likely that I'll get the OK to buy what I need to lift my truck later this year

LED can be used in the reflector housing, it all depends on what bulb you get IMO. Mine work great and I hardly ever get flash by oncoming drivers. When i do get flashed, thats more becauseIi raised my headlights up about 2" so low sitting cars tend to flash when they are about 10 yeards away. The LB, HB, and Fog lights all take an H11 bulb which is great cause you can move those bulbs around and it makes testing much easier.

All of the LED bulbs i have tested are direct plug and play and I would expect the same out of the Cougar as well. To change them all out it shouldn't take more than 5-10 minutes. There have been some issues reported that the bulbs don't sit in the housing directly at 3 and 9 on a clock. I have only seen this on my HB housing, but even still, they perform great.

I also have a 32" LED light Bar mounted inside the bumper. All of my current lights seem to match my DRL's perfectly.

Yes, we can confirm that the HB's, LB's and the fogs are ALL H11 bulbs. If you go back in this thread, you'll see that people have been swapping around their LED bulbs as they get new ones. Hell, I think @Parker315 has put each of his LEDs into each of those locations over the past year. lol

Yeah, that's great your wife is involved. Like you said, it makes it more of a team sport and fun for both of you. It's cool too to get her input and let her decide on some things. My wife is the same way. She is into it as much as me and I love that. It can get a little expensive though with two enthusiasts. Sometimes it's nice to have someone holding the reigns when I get out of control. LOL Sounds like you two have a great relationship. I am big on that. Kudos.

Somethings though I am not selling just because I may change my mind about a mod. Others though like the Morimotos was a no brainer.

I'm nto sure if I confirmed it, but the passenger side of my HB's was also off axis by about the same as others have posted here. I can only guess it's a design flaw by Toyota since they were only designing for halogen bulbs.

Shame the bulbs aren't adjustable without drilling new holes.

I have hid's in my fogs (yes I know there are opinions on this, but I like it and no one flashes their lights at me unless I flip them off lol). I have not changed my high beam bulb since moving to the oemassive headlight housings so I could not speak to whether or not LED's would work there.

In all honesty, are the morimoto led fogs worth the 200 bills? I have been very happy with the light output from my hid's in the oem housings.
