The Morimoto's are definitely worth it (but we got them for approx. 1/3rd off during the group buy).

The housing is high quality and I do not doubt it's durability. It was just as good as the OEM fog housing from what I could tell. Since the LED and housing are designed together, it is completely enclosed so it will definitely hold up to the elements far better than the OEM housing will.

Also, since the housing is designed with the LED's, they optimized the beam to only shine in a narrow-but-wide pattern. This prevents any blinding of oncoming cars while still giving you brighter fogs.

Best of all, they have no chrome because there is no reflectors inside the housing. So when the fogs are off, they look a bit more stealth. :D

Great explanation - that's exactly what I was looking for and honestly:), the no chrome or reflectors sells me more than anything because they'll look better on my black truck

Here's a pic of the OEM on the left and the Moritmoto on the right. It really shows the difference the chrome makes...

Thank you very much for everyone's thoughts and help on this! like i said, I've been in and out of this thread many many times, and with the thread coming up on 2 years the technology has changed so much it's been hard to keep up with what the current 'best' is... with that said, is it possible to keep OP updated to reflect all the latest greatest?

I would not pay $200 for them. I would not pay the MSRP $170 either. Why when I found the coupon that lowered them to $130 (free shipping and no tax) I jumped. Selling mine for half of what I paid was the icing on the cake.

I have seen them sell on here used for $100, in excellent shape. They have a place in the grand scheme of things with my build. Blacking out all my lights that is. I do not think they are stand-alone off road worthy lights. If I was wheeling I would have lots of supplemental lighting for sure. They certainly don't compare to the BDs.

They are great on the road and look drop dead sexy though.

Spend some real money and get some nasty bright Baja Designs. Nothing compares to these. But they are steep at $320. I can see mosquito poop with these. Note this is a daytime picture.

Which bulbs would I need for my vanity mirrors (behind the sun visors) to LED them?

I'm just not sure I would like the yellow lights vs white, but that is just a personal preference.

These also come in clear but think they might be too bright for me. May spend $10 for the clear lens just to see. I had morimotos in my cart several times but noticed a lot of people selling them in favor of HD fogs. Nothing wrong with morimoto. I like the amber contrast on the blue truck. ANYTHING beats stock.

I have a friend in NM and we argue constantly about this subject. He contends that unless they are yellow they are not true fog lights. I argue that since Toyota calls them that, then they must be fogs. LOL His Tundra doesn't have dedicated lights in the bumper like ours. Now on cars they are called running lights in some instances. But to me, if they are a separate light source and the lowest light source, then they are fogs.

Hey, if you buy me a set I will run them without hesitation! And I will even give you mine. :D

Edit- they would look just as good on Inferno.

For interior I bought a set when I bought my truck and every bulb was super bright and fit perfect. The lights in the vanity mirrors were almost blinding. Never had an issue with any of those bulbs and the vanity bulbs are still in use. I swapped the dome and maps for meso ultimates.

What I wonder about with those vanity lights is, is it safe using a double sided bulb like the ones I posted. I know it is a waste because there is no reflectors right? But what about heat? I still want to do mine but to date have not used those lights LOL.

How long do you stare at yourself in the mirror??? I don't think you'd even have them on long enough for this to be an issue... ;)
