    So I have a 2006 Tacoma.

I brought it in for the frame recall a couple of years ago, and they did a great job. Replaced the springs and struts, along with the frame for free.

However, the read bumper wasn't part of the recall, and mine is rotted out and needs to be replaced.

Any tips on costs and anything else ?

    Thanks in Advance
    Jim

You have an '06, and if you keep it outside then the paint is going to be faded a little bit, so a stock bumper will have to be paint matched unless taken off a similarly old taco. Someone backed into my truck at work last year and it ended up being a $1600 ordeal to get a new bumper and get it paint matched. We held up the new bumper to the truck and the paint was definitely different.

Time to go for some armor? :boink:

It's a chrome bumper and the paint on the truck itself is in great shape.

People say it looks like a new truck, but they don't see the rear pumper.

Too bad you are in Massachusetts - I have a pristine chrome bumper off my 2015 wanting a new home.

I'm sure shipping would kill a deal...

Check ebay, I didnt search for the absolute best deal but in a quick search I saw non-OEM replacement chrome bumpers (without black plastic bits) with good reviews for under $155 delivered. Its not a difficult job to replace but you should soak all the bolts with penetrating oil (kroil, liquid wrench, wd40, etc) for a few days before due to the rust you mentions, your bolts will be rusty.

FYI, most (maybe all, can't remember) of the nuts are welded on so focus on the bolts when you're removing it.

I was rear ended a year ago and replaced my bumper with the bolt-on style 2 from ArmorTech Offroad. I took it to Line-X and am very happy with the outcome:

Here's the site, but I don't see the one I ordered on there anymore:
    http://www.armortechoffroad.com/05-Tacoma_c_33.html

He has a Gen 1 and a high clearance option, both look really good. It wasn't cheap, the owner is real tough to get in touch with, it took about 7 weeks to arrive, and another 4 for the LineX. No regrets, I'd definitely do it again. If I get hit again in the same circumstances as before I fully expect this bumper to shrug it off.

I ended up throwing the shackles in the toolbox though, didn't like how they looked.

    Amazon is $257

I'm having my mechanic give me a quote. He's generally pretty good and he'll be done a lot
    faster than me.
