No more boys scouts

The problem isn't that BSA is including girls. The problem is that GSA... sucks.

 

What's the problem? Looks like they are teaching/learning some kick ass life skills.

 

There is NO MORE GSA. Unless you want count the women the Bake the cookies.

 

Compare the badge lists and tell me what's missing in one. And how the criteria are.

 

GSA is still around as an org, it's just BSA is now all-genders. nbd.

My wife is disappointed with GS; most disappointed by the female leaders that allowed GS to become less significant.

 

Okay Let's assume this will happen & let's assume this goes as planned a couple years down the road.Let's talk the 3 or 4 camp out of this season. Scouts start in September with school. 3rd or 4th camp out should be in December. assuming 1 a month. Girls on one side boys on the other. ScoutMasters in the middle to Catch any Scouts wanting to swap anything more than patches.

 

Well too you have to look at what the BSA has promoted with a family based program. You exclude the girls you're excluding family.

Ive never looked at the GSA badges till just now. If I had a younger daughter I'd want her in the BSA program also. That's kind of a sad list for badges in GSA. I've seen a huge change in my son over the last year because of cub scouts. He really enjoys his time in there and looks forward to going every week. He now is the first to volunteer to lead the den for something when asked for a volunteer. This has been the first activity that he looks forward to every week and doesn't want to miss a meeting.

Have the leaders in here seen the National Committee video post explaining this and how it came about? This has actually been in the works for a few years.

 

No. But if someone wants to present me with a badge for taking off over 50 sunfish in one hour I wouldn't be upset...

 

In the 15 or so years I was in scouts, I never saw that happen. As a matter of fact, I don’t think I met a scout who was openly gay. Statistically guy and girl would be more common.

 

In my experience, many fathers are lacking in the nurturing of their daughters. Sure, they take the boys fishing, hunting, shooting, etc., but leave their girls to others to shape and mold. Thank goodness they now have the opportunity to learn the things they want to learn.

Our family is very much outdoor oriented. My daughter was never treated any different than my son. She is absolutely a princess when she wants to be, but is an extremely good shot who loves hunting, fishing, hiking, etc. and will not back down from any challenge. She graduates college in two days, then we leave for HER spring bear hunt in BC. It was what she wanted. I thought for sure she would want to go to the beach somewhere.

It's funny someone thinks girls going camping is somehow going to upset the cart. Girls belong in nature just as much as boys do. Something that some guys could due to learn when it comes to a happy family. Any girl that wants to spend time in the woods is fine by me.

 

But they’re still Boyscouts .
If they had allowed girls in the ranks when I was a kid....I definitely would have been in!

 

I'd only be so lucky if my future daughters met a friend in Scouts and married them years down the line because of common interests and memories shared.

And of course they'd win all the archery contests too, because it's what our family does

Black bear. When she hunts grizzly she can pay herself.

 

Was going to say BC banned grizzly hunting in December

 

Yep, but there's still hope. This will be my 4th spring BC trip, and hopefully many more. I know there are talks with some First Nations to allocate tags.
