Yes and have gotten emails, and letters, and paphlets etc. They have bombarded us with that info and to be quite honest I am disappointed with BSA and how they decided to allow girls into the program

This is all part of the feminization of the western male. Does anybody honestly believe the "boys" in the scouts will not be effected negatively by this? Do boys not deserve to have a place where they can just be around other boys and do boy things?

Some of us are choosing to stay quiet and out of jumping on a soap box. There are too many boxes to unpack with this and it just isn't worth it on certain platforms.

Personal feelings aren't allowed on this internet, but everywhere else.
I have nothing good to say about the subject. Except...

I loved the aquatic merit badges and their non-male instructors.

Taken from a USA Today article:

"It's too early to determine what impact the aggressive BSA effort to recruit girls will have on the Girl Scouts, an organization best known for its lucrative annual cookie sales. The organization, founded two years after Boy Scouts, currently claims a membership of about 1.8 million.

The Girl Scouts list a series of efforts designed to "stay ahead of the pack of youth organizations." That includes 23 new merit badges focusing on outdoors and STEM (science, technology, engineering and math). And last month, the organization unveiled a LinkedIn network aimed tapping a major resource — the group's 50 million alums.

The goal of the network is "to support female advancement in the workforce and help prepare girls for a lifetime of leadership and career success."

Still, the impact of the BSA effort is being felt. One regional leader, Fiona Cummings of Girl Scouts of Northern Illinois, told the Associated Press the BSA’s decision to admit girls is among the factors that have shrunk her council’s youth membership by more than 500 girls so far this year.

She said relations with the Boy Scouts in her region used to be collaborative and now are “very chilly.” "

They feel threatened by this, apparently. Also, to the person that said the founders of The Boy Scouts of America and The Girl Scouts of America were husband and wife, you're wrong honey.

Founder of the Boy Scout Association is Robert Baden-Powell in 1908 in Britain.
Founder of the Boy Scouts of America is/are W. D. Boyce, Edward S. Stewart, and Stanley D. Willis in 1910.
Founder of the Girl Guides is Juliette Gordon Low in 1911 in Britain, inspired by Baden-Powell's efforts with the BSA. Wasn't until 1912 that the Girl Scouts of the United States of America became a "thing".

None of the above folks were married or intimately conjugated.
My older sister was a Girl Scout, guarantee she isn't happy about this herself. Seeing as how my nephew is a current Cub Scout, her younger brother a Life Scout, our POS old man, uncle, and granddad are all 3 Eagle Scouts.

The Girl Scouts failed girls, this isn't the solution for that.

I gotta quit before I say anything further. Have some pride in yourself folks, know when to push, know when to keep it in reserve. Stand for something. Have passion in what you do. All day every day!

you are absolutely right, this isn't about the GSA not having cool badges and more outdoor activities than the BSA does, its about feminizing a once male oriented successful program, because being a male and doing male oriented activities is bad, so lets destroy it and replace it with gender neutral progressive oriented version. If the GSA has less badges or activities that include outdoors than improve it. This is just another step into feminizing men pure and simple.

This reads with the same out of touch belligerence as a gun ownership thread.

    Not Enough.
The problem I have with it is exactly that. Morals have changed throughout the years. People have changed. It's unfortunate, yet it's true. I don't have a son, so I don't have a dog in the fight, but I'm going to give and example.

My ex was (and still is) heavily involved in the scouts with her son. Well, the reason she's my ex? She's sleeping with the scout leader. Who's married... you know... "unhappily". IMO he has no business speaking about morals to young boys. And now young girls will be involved, although not directly, but in some capacity? Now, do I think he's going to the meetings and preaching about infidelity? No, I'm sure he's not. I'm sure it's quite the opposite. But is that the type of person who should instill integrity, honesty, and pride in children?

I also understand that you don't throw out a whole bushel for one bad apple. But it's just inviting more opportunity for more trouble in my mind. But, live and let live, right?

The "aggressive" recruiting is kind of a misnomer. It all depends on the CO, district, and council. Girls will be allowed to join cubs starting over the summer but still not allowed to join boy scouts until Feb of next yr if there is a troop or a CO willing to create a troop in their area.

Correct, they've already done this with the combat arms of the U.S. Military when they opened up combat arms to women. Funny thing is I don't ever hear anyone suggesting that women should have to register for the draft now that they can serve in what was once male only Military Occupational Specialties (MOS). I wonder if all the guys on here chiming in about how "great it is that their daughters can be in the scouts along with boys now" would feel the same about their daughters being drafted when they turn 18 to serve in the Infantry, since were all the same and so forth they should be fine with it, right?

Cant expect to be treated equally but then have special concessions when it benefits you.

Mods can you lock this thread. There is too much misinformation about this subject and it's not conducive to what is actually going on in BSA.
