Im new to this adulting stuff and I’m dreaming hardcore about the desert sand 3rd gen Tacoma. I just bought a 2015 Java TRD sport about 5 months ago (“why didn’t you just buy a desert sand 3rd gen?” It’s a long story...). Anyway how difficult is it to trade? I have a loan through a bank so that seems like it could make it difficult. I mentioned it to my wife and she was not happy about it but if it is an easy transition as far as switching my insurance and getting new tags and all then maybe I can go through with it. Any advice is appreciated!!

Nothing is that hard if you have the money. You will lose a bunch getting out of a loan that early and switching to a new truck with a new loan.

Only way to know is to look at your current loan and talk to the bank. Then see the cost of a loan on the new truck. I bet the cost will make you like your 15 better.

Definitely expensive. Plus the 2015 is the best year of tacoma IMO.

I am already paying a good bit for the ‘15 because it only had 12,000 miles when I bought it. How much more expensive would the transition be. Roughly? I guess that’s a hard question to answer...

Is it just because of the color?

If so I'd think long and hard about making that change. It's not a smart financial decision.

Yeah I mean it is because of the color, the technology and the new body style.

The second gen tacoma is 2005-2015. There are two different front end styles, 2005-2011 and 2012-2015. The 12-15 front end styling is my all time favorite, and you have the latest year of it. I'm personally not a big fan of the third gens, hence me saying the '15 is the best year. All opinion based of course.

It’s your money man, if you want the other truck and can swing it, do it. Just make the calls to the dealer and bank. Write it all down when they tell you cost and see if it’s worth it.

It all depends on what you owe compared to the worth of your truck. If you owe more than it’s worth, then you’ll either have to pay it or roll it over to the next loan. Typically that’s a bad idea. You’re loosing money and your payment will be higher.

If what you owe is the same as the value of the truck, or you owe less than the value, then it won’t cost you anything out of pocket, other than starting a loan over.
